Clicking / grinding noise
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com After several visits to get 'Engine Malfunction indicator' issue fixed and putting new rear tires, I hear clicking / grinding noise when I reverse or stop or start again. This doesn't happen always. I took the car for service to get alignment checked (car was pulling to the right) and check on the clicking / grinding issue. They simply swapped the tires and told me that they reset some transmission adapters per BMW bulletin. Problem is not solved and I still hear clicking / grinding noise. BMW trained techs don't know anything about this. I was wondering if anybody has this problem with their Z4. Appreciate any suggestions. |

A noise from where?! Engine? Gearbox? Front? Rear? Give us some more info and well give you our best guesses... Does it go away or get worse when you brake? Does it happen at high or low speeds? In a particular gear? Etc...

Both front and rear wheels. It goes way and comes back sometimes when I brake. I noticed this at low speeds and moving after a complete stop. I also noticed that sometimes when I brake (slowing down), a feel a vibration under my foot under the car - slow speed around 30-40mph.

We narrowed down the noise to 'clunk' noise ... Service Manager says clunk noise is always there in Z4s .. I told him this started after they opened transmission to fix a leak. I started a new thread about this 'clunk' noise ...
http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=860103 Service manager is getting the car checked. I will post back after I pick up the car. |

You may need to fill your headlight fluid, tell your car to deal with it, then rev her up to 6K on neutral and shift into D for maximum respect....Realistically, i have no clue so let us know if they give you the run around.
