Yep... I caught that... perhaps it's an urban legend... perhaps it's for European models only - I guess only the tech guys in Munich know for sure.

Interesting concept, though... and since it seems that the Toyota tech's are able to pull a lot of info out of their black boxes while investigating acceleration claims, I'm left wondering what, exactly, is being monitored & recorded in BMW's.

My guess is - more than we think.

some services managers are no more reliable than forums... i would think they keep an eye on it so that they know who's tranny really is damage or whose was beaten to death.
