Yes, I now have a shiny new hip! The procedure went well and I'm still in the hospital. I can tell the nagging hip pain is gone which is thrilling. I asked my surgeon about driving the Z4. He is familiar with the car because he test drove one but he is 6'3" and said the car is too small for him. He indicated I should plan on 4 weeks before I try driving a low car like the z4.

Congrats! Now you get special treatment any time you fly?

I'm sure if you need a 'fix' you can convince your hubby/friend to park your Z4 over a drainage dip or something similar to make the entry/exit easier.

Glad it's over and you are feeling better already.

Glad to hear all went well Jayda, some of the fellows here already started to worry Your surgeon speaks from experience so by all means do listen to him. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a great reunion with your Z once all is said and done.

Anyway, while you were in the OP the boys here got together and ordered this for your bed side ... be sure to change the water now

Sounds great, Jayda. Special treatment when you fly? Yes, indeed. You'll get the pat-down from now on. I've had several, none from any good looking female TSA agents, yet.

Hi Jayda,

I was a therapist for 12 years and worked with several patients like you - but most were older! I would agree with what your doctor says (not that you need me to do that)... BUT the occupational and physical therapists have a lot more experience with and specific expertise in helping post op joint replacement folks get back into functioning in a healthy and safe way. As suggested elsewhere in this thread, do your OT and PT religiously (don't overdo it)... and your recovery time will go much quicker and your final outcome should be excellent. Z4 or no Z4. Best of luck with your recovery!

Doug

Hello All- My lovely Z4 sits in the garage as I recover. It has been an up and down week for me. Too many narcotics and too much swelling. I'm starting to taper off the pain meds though and have gotten out to do some crutch walking (which is highly recommended). I make sure I head outside through the garage so I see my baby I still kind of think "man there is no way I'll ever get into that car again" when I see it. Hopefully I will feel differently soon!
