Hi ! Sometimes a dealer can really come up trumps! so this one seems to have been very honourable, which I have to say is becoming quite rare, see my threads......

I am glad they worked with you and got things resolved. Nothing worse than having a new car that's not right.

Good to see BMW took care of you with reimbursing you and waiving lease payments!

Steering rack?
Wow. It took them a while to find that one for you. I was a lot luckier with mine. My steering was making a small noise on delivery. Within a couple of weeks I took it back and within the day they decided to replace the steering rack. Another three week wait for the parts to come from Germany then they replaced it. Happy to say that I did not have your symptoms though, with either of my steering racks. What I did get was a shock at the price. It was a $5K fix for the car, and that is with the internal labour and parts rate that BMW pay their dealers. It never ceases to amaze me that they did not flinch at paying the $5k to fix the steering rack noise, but they refused to pay the $30 for the three wheel hub caps that fell off the car the first time I drove it on a track.

We just pulled the stock RFTs off and put our blizzak 18" LM60s on. 3 season on them and tons of tread left. One had a torn bead, so I had to replace it with a new one (rear left). Set the tire pressure to 46 rear and 39 front (as listed on the door jam) and went for a drive. Squirrely as heck. dropped the tire pressure down 5# each and went for a drive. Hit the throttle and the car pulls left. I released the wheel and she tracked properly, hit the gas a bit and she flicked the blinker on for herself and tried to change lanes left. Let off the gas and she drifted to the right.
The car absolutely did not do this a week ago on the stock RFTs. I might try to put the 19's from my 335 on there and see how they do (Hankook Evos).

Put my summer 19's from the E92 onto the e89 and went for a test drive. Car did perfectly. Checked the air pressure in those and they were at 40 rear and 35 front, sae as what's in the blizzaks. So, my pulling left under acceleration is not the car, but the tires or mounting. Back to Les Schwab to have them rebalanced I guess. Probably won't be able to happen until next Saturday. Good thing, though, is she looks pretty nice with black 19s and 275 30 in the rear
