Side trim removal

I need to remove the chrome trim on the fender "gills", also the S Drive lettering. Are these held on with double sided tape or ?
Thnx

The S drive lettering is held by double sided tape only, the gills are held with double sided tape and clips, which you can access by opening the hood and use a long thin screwdriver to release them.

Thnx Hilton

I assume then that I can use fishing line to remove the trim but what about replacing it? I assume new tape is available?

Are there many Zs in S.A.? I understand that "Cars and Coffee" is there for meet-ups.
A lot of Zs are now in winter storage in the U.S. Here in the S.E., U.S.we are still enjoying top down weather.

3M trim tape is readily available. Try Amazon.com.

Fishing line works well, I find heating them with a hair drier helps. New tape is available, you'll just need to trim the tape.
There are not to many Zs in SA, not sure why as we have great weather for top down driving. We in the middle of summer at the moment with temps averaging 30°c even in winter where I live on the east coast the coldest it gets is around 8°c.
I'm a member of the local BMW club, we have quite a few meet-ups.

There is no need to heat at all. the tape is designed to be split upon removal. Fishing line or even dental floss will remove it. jsut place it under one edge and using a sawing motion while pulling away from the vehicle finish work under and through the tape. Afterwards both sides of the tape will be present. Use a light solvent like Gooo B Gone or something like that to remove the glue part of the tape. that is it.

You can also get the tape from some auto parts stores. but is usually more expensive. (a few dollars) but if it is an emergency then hey worth the triip.
