Putting the styling/looks aside for bit, I came from an SLK AMG 55 to the Z4 and there are two things that I miss about the Benz: The off-the-line low end torque of a V8, and the "air scarf" neck/shoulder heaters. That's about it.
For me, I'm not certain I've made up my mind on the styling of the new version of the SLK. Perhaps it might grow on me, but doubtful as I love the SLR but not so much the SLS. Again, it is so subjective when it comes to what each of us likes to look at, or how a car feels to us when driving. Overall, I love my Z4 and wouldn't trade it for a new SLK. (We'll see when MB comes out with their AMG version....) |

5th gear did a review and scored it 16 out of 30....not good!! Also followed one into work today and that made up my mind.......there's no way I'd swap my Zed for one even if it is £200 a month cheaper!!

This video review of the SLK350 should pretty much tell you why you might want to skip the SLK.
In the vid, the tester pretty much says the 3.5 V6 (that goes 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, as fast as the Z4 28i by the way) feels like an 4-banger and starting price cost $5k more. I know this is a CNet review and they are more into gadgets so you can take their driving impressions with a grain of salt but even they didn't seem impressed with the electronics on the vehicle.

It really isn't that new, it came out a year ago while the Z4 came out about 3 years ago. There have been speculations of a minor facelift coming up late this year or early next year but that's all it is, a speculation.
I just find it weird that the SLK350 with it's V6 with 302hp is just as fast as the as the turbo 4 with 240hp. The SLK is only 100+ lbs heavier. I did notice on Benzes website last week that the SLK250 is also out and starts at $42,500 or the version I would get if I were to go the SLK route, the AMG SLK55 with a V8.
