Transmission faults like yours are often caused by aged or low transmission fluid levels

I just dropped my car off at the mechanic and told them what you said. They will look at all the codes (check it see if there are any fault codes) and will let me know. I'll keep you posted! Thank you!

So I got my car back, the mechanic said the fault code was for the battery. They tested the battery and said it was severely drained, something about should be around 800 something and it was below 200. They replaced it. My car seems fine but I need to drive it more to see if it messes with the shifter. One problem possibly fixed, now onto the next lol.

Flat, damaged, aged batteries cause many spurious faults on E89s…but that’s a first for me ..
