First Spirited Drive in Sport + Mode
I had an opportunity today to drive my car alone and thought I would see if driving in Sport or Sport + mode would make much of a difference. I was pleasantly surprised. There is a noticeable difference in both the handling and the throttle response. I'll have to say BMW did a fine job with this option. If I ever would rally my car, doing so in Sport + mode might actually make a difference in the handling course.

Are there any good driving roads in the hills up there?

If you are talking about western MD, south central PA and the eastern panhandle of WV, yes there are, lots of them. You ought to come over and try them out. Unless it's a holiday weekend or there is some sort of festival they are generally not crowded at all.
Head west from Frederick past Hagerstown on I70 and once you get past Hancock, get off almost anywhere and there are lots of interesting back roads. The roads in MD are much better than PA or WV as far as their condition. One I like in PA is route 16 west of Greencastle headed up the mountain toward McConnellsburg and Fort Loudon. Go to 522 and then head south toward Hancock and Winchester. WV Route 9 out of Berkeley Springs is also interesting.

Nice timing w/ this thread because I've recently started driving more in Sport+ since switching to non-RFTs and w/ the good weather. Just wondering if you guys find it easy for the back-end to kick out? I just accelerate from a stop to turn and the back does a small slide w/ some gas, I guess that's expected w/ the DSC partially off?
Back on topic, it's definitely the most responsive mode, as intended. |
