With BMW going with a much sportier Z4 that can compete with the Boxster, maybe they'll actually finally release a much coveted M version?

I'm not sure I'd like a shorter hood though, I love the extra long hood and very short trunk of the E89, it has a true roadster feel and look to it.

I believe they intimated all this when asked about an M version of the e89 recently... they said 'not for the current generation at least'... implying a more sporty old school focus for the next version. Its years away and I'm happy with my e89 for the next year or two and then I'll have owned two seaters for so long i'll likely go back to something more practical anyhow.

Maybe they will do like the Corvette with the engine in the front and the transmission in the back. Give you a shorter hood and more of a 50/50 weight distribution...

I'm all for them creating a more dynamic car but not if it means altering the proportions which is what makes it a roadster and so unique looking.

It seems they need something more along the lines of a coupe sports car like the Cayman. That way they can have their low volume dynamic sports car and more all-around roadster.

To sum it up, the next generation of the Z4 will handle even better and they will strive to make it even sportier.

That sounds no different that how any auto manufacturer operates. It has been the goal of every car manufacturer for years, to make the next generation of a vehicle better in almost every way.

The next generation of the Z will be better than the e89, just like the e89 is better than the e85.
