Are They Going to Offer the E89 in Frozen Grey in the Future?

It looks great on the M5, what do you guys think? If this color was an option, would you have bought your Z4 in this paint color?

No Im not really interested. It's an extra 5,000 so you might as well just put a wrap on the car when you get it and have the option to remove it at any time.

Not for me either. I like the paint glossy!

Also not a fan of grey cars.

MB put out sooooo many of them over here its not funny.

I realise the paint is better these days but I have childhood memories of the silver paint on a 1981 Chrysler Sigma, where the whole roof was peeling away.

To this day I would not buy a silver car because of that image in my head.

Thankfully they still make them in Black and Blue to keep me interested.

When you get this paint, make sure you kill all the birds and bugs in your neighborhood. Then make sure you cut down the trees as well. Apparently it's very hard to take care of.

Maintenance on the paint is actually easier than glossy paint.

Quote:
BMW Individual Frozen Paint Guidelines:

Matt Russell, BMW NA M Brand and ALPINA Manager, and Tim Reiter, BMW Body & Paint Technical Specialist, tell us more about the washing and maintenance process of the matte paint colors.
Among many tips for those owners with “frozen” paint finishes, here are a few that stand out:

Use a regular shampoo and insect remover
Microfiber cloth, wax, sealant and final inspection cleaner can damage the matte paint
Do not polish or wax the vehicle
No mechanical means of cleaning the surface
Remove insect remains, tar and other residues immediately
I mean no claying, no wax, no polish. No need to worry about pesky swirl marks. Just wash and dry with a leaf blower (which i already do anyways, I have a black car ). There are also waxes for matte paints out there if you want an extra protection but overall, if your car stays in the garage, I think it is easier to maintain.

I'd buy it....going back to Space Grey for eg...no other colour car is easier to maintain. Doesn't show the dirt as much, looks very shiny when clean...my 2nd choice after Alpine

I think it looks great. BMW could be a market leader and put a few scratches and dings in the body work to give it that aged look. That way you could park it anywhere and not worry about that first scratch or door ding. Like buying jeans with holes in them.

Or maybe make the leather look worn and distressed so you can continue to bring you dogs in the car!

"maintenance" is not to be confused with vanity. We wash, wax, clay bar to make the car look better. Glossy paint can go days or months with out getting a car wash worst case I can cut the clear coat. I don't think I ever pulled my car over to wipe off bugs or tree sap on the spot. with this there are some "must do" clause. Thats not easier.

Who says this cars can't go days or months w/o a wash? If I were buying this car, I'd certainly make sure it isn't parked outside overnight, it has to be parked inside the garage.

To me, it seems more hassle free. I don't pull over to clean bird crap right away but I do it right away when I get to my destination anyways. It doesn't have to be wiped on the spot, stop exaggerating. I always have a spray detailer and microfiber cloth in the trunk, when I get to the parking lot at work or at a grocery store, when I see something like bird crap or pollen, I wipe it off right away. Again I have a black car and there is nothing that can be more difficult keeping it spotless and swirl free (practically impossible). So to me, not having to polish, clay and wax and just wash and dry the car is a breeze in comparison. I never bring my car to an automatic car wash either so that wouldn't be a concern.

We clay, polish and wax for protection and because we see imperfections. Getting rid of those imperfections does make the car look better but if the matte paint already looks good w/o doing all that process then it is easier, just less work. Clay, polish and wax has almost become an obligation to car enthusiast and it is a lot of work.

The clauses you have to sign are insane but if you really think it through, it isn't so bad. Repairs has to be done by a BMW certified shop? If anything happens, I'll likely do that anyways so no big deal.

This is probably the closest we'll see to one. It definitely shows off the cars body lines more.

If I get bored or just tired of cleaning my black Z4, I'll try and get it vinyled in matte blue.

My GOD. I love the GranTurismo SO much... I actually found one for sale second hand at a bargain price here in Belgium. Only around 53k EUR but the taxes are really making this car ridiculously expensive

My thoughts exactly. Not sure why anyone would spent $5k on this and have it look like the half primer'ed Honda Civic from the kid next door.

I want matte blue too, temporarily, as vinyl wrap.
