Anyone here have a Newer Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The lease on my wifes Audi A6 is up in June and shes wanting to get back into an SUV. I have friends that do the occasional off-road thing so I think this can be a win win for me.
Thinking about the 2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.

My father has a 2013 (so not as new) GC Trailhawk with the 5.7L. The vehicle now has 110k miles and has been flawless so far. the Trailhawk is a bit heavier duty since it has all of the offroad accessories such as skid plates, rock rails, tow hooks, etc.

I had a 2012 JGC Overland until December. I did some off-roading with it. It was also pretty flawless with zero major issues.

I rented one recently. I used my miles on my credit card so it was free except for gas. Like the ride height, you are higher than everyone including other SUVs. Can see around/ahead of everyone and your size means less likely you're getting cut off in traffic or anybody really tries to mess with you. I had the V6, power was sufficient but not a trackhawk or SRT8 of course. Has a sport mode and ASS. Unlike BMW, you can have it in sport and still have ASS on but would imagine the performance level is less than with ASS off. It doesn't remember the last ASS setting though and must be deactivated every time you start the car like the pre LCI. My car had GPS, but wasn't that intuitive and it's a touch screen, but after I got used to it, it was fine.

I drive a 2014 GC Overland 5.7 Hemi and I adore it. No major issues and it sounds BEAST with an exhaust (I have Corsa). They're awesome cars. Only have 34k miles on it and hope to keep it for the long run.

I recently sold my GC SRT 2014, which I acquired in 2013. No real issues 'till last September, when a roller lifter decided to take a dump. When it was repaired (under the $5k extended warranty, thank god), it was as good as new if not better. I sold it at 60k miles soon after that, just 'cause.

It was a great vehicle. Lots of power, lots of gadgets and accessories and a decent ride to boot, at least in auto mode. In sport mode it was firmer and in track mode I think the shocks simply get locked down LOL

Having grown up near the Chrysler HQ and knowing a lot of Chrysler "engineers" and crooks in management...

No, I'm not an idiot!

It baffles me why the American public buys so many trash cars.

My wife's girlfriend just got a Trackhawk. I think it's a lot of money for a Grand Cherokee.

I picked up a 2017 SRT.

Really enjoy it...

Pros:
-Lots of bang for your buck.
-Comfortable
-Tow 7,900 lbs
-Full Leather interior is nice but runs about $4,400 (replaces all the plastic)
-Mopar extended warranty is legit 8 years/125,000 miles $0 deductible - $2800 Covers pretty much everything
-Nice V8

Cons:
-Dealers suck , service is horrible
-fit and finish leaves much to be desired, BMW is just on a different level.

Any experience w/the 2012ish with the 5 speed? Curious to know if the A8 is worth the $10k premium in cost to buy over a 2012.

My brother has a 2015 JGC Overland High Altitude. 72K miles and not a single issue. Drives great and has classic good looks. My younger brother just got a 2018 JGC Trailhawk last week and he loves it. I would love to get an SRT version for myself.

Sorry, only just saw this. According to the forum I was part of, owners of 5 speeds loved the 8 speed. 1/4 mile times were faster as well

The Jeep is probably a safe bet, if it's going to be your wife's daily driver. However, I'd personally choose a new 4Runner (TRD Pro) based on aesthetics, off-road capabilities, reliability, and value. For creature comforts and power/speed on the road, the Jeep is better. There's also the often forgotten Land Cruiser, which is beast, but starts at $84,000 (USD).

I leased a 2015..got my f30...then had a baby. Wish I got another one for my wife. We got a Vw to save costs due the paying the nanny etc...
When my f30 is payed off there is a good chance I will get a Grand Cherokee altitude for myself.
I like the comfort, the user interface that is touch screen and the all weather capabilities.

To me, the altitude package is like the msport of jeep. Has the sporty aesthetics and just the right bit of extra features over the standard Laredo
