Smartop, Comfort Access or some other issue? Has this happened to anyone else?

Three times now over the past year, I have come out in the morning to find my Z4 unlocked with all the windows down. I know for a fact that I secured the car the night before. I have both Comfort Access and Smartop. I don't think I am pressing my fob by accident. It sits on my table at night. Anyone else had these issues with the windows mysteriously coming down? I am afraid one day it might happen parked on a public street or worse in the rain.

try keeping the key fob in a radio signal blocking bag, and on a table out of reach ?

Rule out random / minor stuff like that before digging in for electrical or software glitches..

I'm with nicknaz. I've accidentally "pocket unlocked" my car before. At least that would eliminate that possibility.

Yeah, but his car is not only unlocked - all the windows are down, which can only be done if the unlock button is held down for quite a while. I can't see how he could have done this accidentally.

You never keep your keys in a pocket or bag? Or where someone can place something on top of them?

Any one of those actions could result in the button being depressed.

I have Comfort access but no smart top. I have never had an issues. To use CA to drop the top and windows I have to stand right next to the drivers side rear quarter panel and HOLD the button to drop all. There must be some electric issues in the switch in the center console signally the event. Just my guess.

I love how everyone is skipping right past the possibility that the car is haunted.

Had this issue on my old MINI Cooper S where the windows would open over night etc. Turned out water had affected the headlight relay which messed up the electrics. Sounds like you have a gremlin.

Tim.

Did you check the odometer reading? I assume that somebody joyriding has been ruled out? That is strange stuff.

I have both CA and smart top... Never experienced any issues, nor this type of problem.

I have CA and the SmartTop module, and yes, I've experienced this several times. Exception here is during the day, keys in my jean pockets, and sitting or bending presses the correct button. Sometimes I've heard the beeps from try car indicating the remote was being functioned, other times not.....

Also, not sure if I have a really great SmartTop module, but my remote WILL function from at least 80 feet away. I've tested and commented on that in a previous thread....

Perhaps buy a remote cover to prevent accidental presses? Something like this:
