Thumbs up hi from China

Hi All,

I also just registered and thought I should introduce myself and my Z4. Im from Denmark but live in China (on my 3rd year now). Before moving to China I resided in Germany, Los Angeles and Boston for shorter periods of time. While fuel prices in China are on-pair with those in the US, car prices are definitely higher. Most versions of the Z4 actually cost over 100k USD here. Prices in China are however still lower than in Denmark, so I finally decided it was time buy a second-hand Z4 (18.000kms) and register at zpost.com!

Its now an ESS tuned sDrive35i loaded with almost everything except M-stuff (I miss an LSD), steering wheel heating and voice control. Most BMWs sold in China are offered only with pre-defined packages/options and a mininium of color combinations. Typically the best/only way to get extra equipment is to go up in engine size and only automatic transmissions are really seen here.

Anyhow, I love almost everything about this roadster. The sound, the torque, the design, the wind in the hair, and the hard stares and tumbs-ups from everyone I meet, young or old. I am a former motocross driver and glider pilot for several years and I never actually thought I would feel this excited about something with 4 wheels! There is something about this car's combination of luxury and dynamics, and the simple fact that you can share it all with one (carefully selected) passenger that makes me wonder why I spent so much time wearing helmets and headsets for excitement.

So I'm looking forward to contribute more from my time-zone in the future!

Hi ! I'm from Gothenburg, Sweden and I hope to join the Z4 club within a few weeks. If all goes well with the dealer and bank this will be my year-around ride. It will replace a Saab 9-3 Sportsedan Aero -04 which I had for almost 7 years. This is a half year old Z4 sDrive23i -2011 with not much miles on it. It has the M-package but not the navigation. I fell in love with the titan silver / kansas valnut interior. This is the smallest engine but I hope to be satisfied with that. The half hour test drive made me happy. Some slight plastic/rubber creaking from behind but I hope they can fix that. Also the airbag indicator was lit the whole time. If some day I would want some more power, are there any tuning options to squeeze a few more horse power out of it?

hi all

Not sure if it has been shared elsewhere, but just found a small trick: If I press the key fob against my chin, range improves significantly. This means I can open the roof from very far away by holding down the open button. It looks a bit silly to walk with the fob pressed against the chin, but it actually makes it possible to finish opening the roof completely while still walking towards the car. I dont know if it works on US models though...

Noob awaiting Performance Delivery

Joining the forum with my Z4 on order for a June delivery in South Carolina. Thanks for all the great threads and info from the community on the site.

2012 Z4 sDrive35i Space Grey Canyon Brown M Sport package, 6 MT, cold weather package, premium sound, premium package, BMW assist w/ Bluetooth, comfort access

Can't wait for the time to pass, watching the build on the website makes me jealous of the beautiful weather we've had recently! Photos and delivery story will have to wait. (by the way, which is the correct thread to post delivery stories?)

The website shows my car has been built ... Just waiting for shipment across the pond. I also received confirmation on my Performance Delivery and scheduled vacation time for the trip! This next month is going to bounce between excitement and frustration as I wait for delivery day. BMW sure knows how to build suspense and expectation with the delivery!
I guess I will just have to swing back by and convince my service advisor to let me sit in one of their two Z4s (and close my eyes and pretend it is a manual with the canyon brown extended leather)!
Thanks for the welcome, jp!

I just placed my order tonight for a Space Gray with Coral Red 35i and picked up an X3 for the fiancee.

I have until tomorrow morning to change the color; I was thinking about changing to Alpine White with the Coral Red.

We're both very excited.

China

I go to China 3-4 times a year; scary to drive a Z4 around Dongguan or Shenzhen where I go...lots of potholes and bad streets! Not to mention the terrible drivers.

It is scary driving inside the big cities in China. Very scary. Especially because people in other cars like to stare at white foreigners and cars such as the Z4... Just last week I saw some dude hit a another car at low speed while he was busy looking at me... and I have lost count of how many times passengers in cars/busses passing by took pictures of me with their mobiles

But I have now driven almost 10.000km in China and the reason I am still alive I think is that the expressways/toll roads here are quite developed and mostly used by trucks. Also, except for speed limits, which are monitored by speedcams EVERYWHERE, most traffic rules are not really enforced here. This means driving outside urban areas in China is often more relaxing compared to the US and Europe.

OK, this was probably off topic, but just wanted to share. At least im still a noob haha

Introduction

Hi,

We test drove this Z4 at the weekend and will be picking her up later in the week. This will be our first BMW after owning other cars from VW, Mercedes and Porsche and we were really impressed by the performance and quality of the car. I think it was the DCT box matched to the 3.0 twin turbo engine that sealed the deal.

Initial plans are to sort out the front grille and lower air intake grilles, as the factory ones don't really complement the black paintwork IMHO. I'm between going for the totally black stealth look, with the BMW performance black grille and black lower air intake grills, or an accented look with the upper black grille with the chrome surround and then black lower air intake grilles with a silver/chromed cross divider. I don't think there's anyone out there currently who sells a chromed cross divider for the lower grilles, so I would have to look at getting these done by a specialist electroplating company or seeing if it's possible to wrap them with a chrome vinyl wrap.

I'll post some more pictures once we've picked her up later in the week.

Steve.

Hello

Hi Everyone.

New to the forum. I a proud owner of a 2011 Z4.
Had this baby from day 1 and even after 2 separate accidents, still loving it.
I was looking to get a either a Boxster or SLK - so glad I got the Z4 instead.

Picked up my plates yesterday ... They won't do much good since Performance Delivery is in two weeks! Anticipation doesn't even begin to explain my excitement!

Of course my wife comment that I should have gotten a custom plate since Virginia asks so little for them ... But my service advisor didn't offer that option. Maybe later, letters and numbers will work for now because I don't plan on looking at the plates except when I wash the car!

What is that on the hood in the third photo? I don't see it in the second.

Just got back in town from Greer, SC and my Performance Delivery. Outstanding experience and then some! We spent half the day with Andy and Tommy (father and son) in the classroom, on the track, and in delivery yesterday. Even the wife got in to the handling course events.

It's late and I just put my brunt camera batteries on the charger - photos will come tomorrow with a full report. Long drive home, but at least I am almost halfway done with the break-in period!
