The Sky Garden at the top of the building known as the walkie talkie is nice, it’s free as well but you need to book in advance.

That and an open top bus tour and you could easily eat up a day.

I live in London and hopefully you mean around the Soho area where there are lots of new restaurants with food from all over the world. Around Trafalgar Square itself (where the cinemas are) are some terrible places.

Borough Markets is good for food too but check when it's open. It doesn't open on Sunday.

Totally agree with the parks though.. In the height of summer, on a warm day, they are something special.

Was in London last year for a week for work and it's truly a world class city. I wish I had another week on my own just to explore but did have nights and the weekend to play. The Thames river taxi is an easy way to see a lot of London and get your bearings at the start of the trip. You can get off at Tower Bridge and go to the top and get some good views. You can have dinner at the top of The Chard for great evening views of the area. Definitely check out the concert schedule in Hyde Park. Two of my favorite things I did was do the Behind the Scenes Tour at Wimbledon and I went to see Arsenal play Leicester City at Emirates Stadium. There were 60k fans on a Wednesday evening! Even if you aren't a huge tennis fan learning the history and tradition of the game makes the trip worth it. Have to hit some English pubs of course!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've got a crazy week here so sorry I haven't had time to respond in detail yet but I'm reading all the suggestions and checking them out. Keep them coming!

I didn't catch the name of the pub we were in. It was raining and we were doing the bike tour (which was a blast). We were just off Trafalgar Square. It was 2 stories, and the food and my pint were fabulous.

While I'm sure the pub around Trafalgar was fine, to get a real feel for the city you need to venture away from the serious tourist areas and check out some neighborhood pubs. While the pubs appear to be quaint local waterholes (they are), many of the pubs are now owned by the large brewers/distributers so they are quite corporate now. But they really still serve as local meeting places and are great fun to visit. A simple internet search will provide some guidance to pubs and neighborhoods. There were also several books on pubs to visit but been years since I've seen one...

We used to live in London and our pub was the Plumbers Arms on Lower Belgrave St. Still on a crowded tourist traveled street the Bunch of Grapes on Brompton Road. Nag's Head is another great old pub near Belgrave Square...

For a slightly different offering, there is a pub in Covent Garden that does Thai food on the 2nd floor.

https://www.lemontreecoventgarden.com

Or a pub in Kensington that does Indian food (something that is very good in London in general). Speaking of which, apart from the fairly touristy Brick Lane, Tayyabs in Aldgate is amazing but I don't think you can book with a small group so you will probably have to line up during busy times. It turns tables quickly though.

If you are after a bit more fine dining, you should check out Harwood Arms near Fulham. I think it's the only Michelin Starred pub in London and it's not overly pricey.

My friends and I tend to go to Crown and 2 Chairmen if we're around Soho because it's has a decent selection of pump craft beers (rather than the cellar temperature cask stuff which I also like but may be considered as 'warm beer' by most standards).

There are lots of good cocktail bars these days too. Worth a Google but Pollen Street Social has a good (albeit busy at times) cocktail bar upstairs as well as restaurant downstairs.
