This is what I was talking about: http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f106...-window-84399/

The area for the rock to hit the glass is actually quite small - you wouldn't believe it.

But yeah, directly behind the seat in your case would be near impossible.

Dr. Stig, when this happened did you see a man holding an open umbrella on a grassy knoll? And more to the point, what clandestine government operations are you involved with anyway?

THankfully, my head is still in one piece.

Unfortunatley, work overload and travel means I wont be able to get the car into the dealership for a proper examination until next week.
Sorry to leave you all in suspense.

Been into the dealer...
They are replacing the trim piece under warranty but could not find a reason why she self destructed.
When the part arrives from Germany they will strip down the whole section to see if they can find the cause.

The suspense continues...

sounds as if this is the read story... based on an experience at my dealer.

you had them work on the trim and add lube, but in the process of getting this all quite, the service guy broke the trim and just decided to push it back in to place...

now the top down and wind all going crazy it caught wind (the broken piece) and its airborne!

See, I had the service guys update my navigation system last year, and I noticed the OBD cover was a tad off when I got home. Well, in the process of plugging in the connector they pushed too hard and the harness broke away from the plastic clip. So the harness was just laying in there behind the plastic trim.

Long story short, in the end I just wish the technician would just fess up to the damage, it happens, no big deal. I would rather them say Mr So&So, we snapped a piece of trim work while working on your car, but we have the new part on order, do accept our sincere apologies.. instead of finding out under my own detective work....

seems the wind did your detective work for you...

just my 2 cents...

glad they are covering it.. sounds like maybe they know what happened without saying...

That is a possibility. Its been a couple of months since they last did work on the car, but it is possible. The part was certainly out of sight / mind so I would not have noticed if it had been pre-broken.

Still waiting on the part to fix it and pull everything apart to see if there is any other reason.
