The clear plastic straps looks terribly cheap just like what was said on the other one.

Just was handed the Roadster Solutions box from the UPS driver. Fast shipping! Unfortunately it's only 20 degrees in Wisconsin. I probably won't be able to put it on until June considering it needs to be at least 70 degrees! Bummer
While I realize this install is pretty simple: peal, push and place. I think I'll do a video showing my installation. This is about as mechanical as I get, so I want it on video as proof! Plus, if I screw up, everyone here will be able to see what I did wrong and help me! Last edited by Michael5155; 03-05-2012 at 04:26 PM.. |

I don't think we need that many because there just isn't enough active people around here. I mean this whole day, there has probably been 5 active posters. I mean it seems like BMW only sells around 3,000-4,000 Z4s in the US and about the same in Europe so we are a rare breed out there.
A DIY forum/thread would be great but most of the others like lighting, electronics, etc... can be categorized in the "Engine, Transmission, Exhaust, Drivetrain, ECU Software Modifications" sub-forum. Maybe there should be a sub-sub-forum for DIY in that place.

i've helped run some pretty large boards
the more you break up the forums, the less traffic each gets. i think two main forums is more than enough given the low traffic this site gets. activity will only drop if the boards are divided up further. |

True, it probably won't cost much but I feel like everything will be thinned and spread out and other forums will be ghost towns. I think a simple 1 thread sticky on lighting (all we really upgrade are the halos anyways) even if it has 7-10 pages but chuck full of info with a link to a DIY on the first page, I think that will suffice. 7-10 pages isn't really that long at all and doesn't take too long to read.
The same goes for suspensions, wheels, etc... I tried to do a comprehensive list of the body kits in a thread myself just to make it easier for those looking and hopefully that snowballs and others post what they find as well. So when they search for body kits, lips, spoilers, etc... that thread would appear and all their questions would be there. The same could be done with the others as well, we just need to try and help each other out and fill it with information. That's just my .02 cents, I feel that way the forums Z4 community will be closer together than spread around. But anything that could help expand the Z4 market and help others is good for me so either way works.

I'm sure you guys know a billion times more about running a forum than I do. I just think it would be nice to eliminate some searching and endless thread reading by cutting more to the point by clicking on a focused sub-group.
Personally, forums with more sub-groups are more appealing for the reason I mentioned above and appear like they have more members. But you are right when you say there aren't a lot of e89 owners out there. Bottom line: this forum is wonderful and I have learned so much from it. It's so nice to share my passion for my car with people who understand. |

That's what I'm talking about. Creating a DIY sticky where we can post detailed photo/written descriptions. I know many here have swapped out exhaust systems, suspension parts, bumpers and even more routine things like oil changes, spark plug changes, etc. I think, if you're inclined to work on your cars like I am, but don't necessarily have the knowledge to do the job confidently, this could be a great service to further our enjoyment of our cars.

Unfortunately, from my experience on other car forums, many members get furious when someone asks for help and are quickly flamed with "Use the #@$% search function"! |

Michael, it's not like that here. Yes you should search as you're first option, but we all are glad to lend a hand.

We should have an "introduce yourself" thread where current and new owners can come together and take to each other. Just an idea.
