I would like to be able to set the displays default position to closed. It really annoys me when it opens up every time I get in the car. I have a button programmed to close the display but it still frustrates me!

If you close the display before shutting the car down, it should remain closed at restart.

Search the forum, this was discussed in another thread a while back.

The nice thing about CTMfree is that you can deactivate as easy as you activate the top operation in less than 30 seconds. So if you want to feel secure you just deactivate before going to service.

Myself I have had my car in for fixes (windows and engine) 2 times already and BMW have run their diagnostics on my car both with CTMfree and TVfree activated and deactivated and they haven't commented anytime.

And as there are no hardware installed in the car i would say it is undetectable.

As for the group-buy i will send 10 tools today to thoose who have ordered. PM me and i will send 11 .

As my secretary Dr Stig 2 said i have 1 CTM and 1TVfree extra cause i learned from the last group-buy there will always be some new E89-owners asking for the tools.

BR Shadow4

Thanks Dr Stig 2, could you please serve us coffe now?

Thanks for the answers. Now I just have to get my post count up so I can PM you for details

cdeslandes - I have read the other posts but what you say only appears to be true from 2010 onwards models . Mine is 2009 and the display opens up on start even when I close it before shutting down.

Rafale, I am happy you finally got the roof working ok.

Was it the settings that was the problem? Would be nice to know.

Shadow,

I did not do anything different. This time the top works but not the mirrors. I am on a business trip and I will check in a couple of weeks when I get back if I have a bent or covered contact on my CTM.

Thanks!

The mirrors only work when you close the car with the key button by pressing a couple seconds longer. You will see them fold in. Doesn't work when sliding with your finger on your door... (comfort).

Thanks Kris. I tried that too and it still did not work. I even purposely unlock and lock the car while keeping the button pushed and the mirrors do not move.

Looks like the add-on soft for the mirrors were not in the thing then... because your roof is working.

Hi Rafale, The first thing the tool installes is the "folding mirrors".

If the tool are unsuccessful in installing the "mirror-funktion" the tool will stop and will NOT install the CTmfree program. This is in any case if there is an HW or SW fault in the Tools!

On the vid i could see that the car had accepted the mirror-programming by the 1 blink from the red led. And the "alternating red and green led light confirm that the roof-program also are installed properly.

In other words: If mirror installing is unsuccessfull also the roof programming will be unsuccsessfull.

About the mirrors: By pressing and HOLD the roundel-button on the keyfob until you see that the mirrors starts to fold. Then you can release the Roundel-button and the mirror will continue to fold.

If you have "Comfort Access" you will be able to "unfold" buy touching the door handle. All door must be closed!

Dont press-release- press again. It should be only 1 long press of the roundel on the keyfob! Release the button when the mirror starts to fold!

What i have seen from your vid there is nothing wrong with your tool!

Please check battery in your keyfold or try folding/unfolding with your spare key-fob. Also try different angles from the car.

Let the car stand with everything shutdown for at least 1 hour so the system goes in to "sleep-mode" and the try all of the above.

I am confident that you soon will come to the point where the mirrors works!

1. Ignition off
2. Attache CTmfree+ close all doors.
3. Turn on ignition
4. Wait for the "bongs" to finish
5 Press the green button on the tool.
6 When having alternating red and green leds blinking, turn of ignition
7. Remove CTMfree from OBD-interface.
8. Wait 15-60 minutes for ECU to sleep. (60 minutes better in your case)
9. See to that you have the mirror-selector fully to the left (LH stering wheel.
10.Look at the videos on Prochip!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Test this with the CTMfree deactivated:

Drive slowely and use the folding-nirror button to fold the mirrors. Then increase your speed until the mirror unfolds automatically! PM me at wich speed the mirrors will unfold.

I can confirm Shadow's last email regarding folding mirrors. Press to lock, then press again and the mirrors will start to fold (then you can take your thumb of the roundel and the mirrors will continue to fold).

I can also confirm that the doors will unlock and the mirrors will unfold automatically when you simply walk up to the car and open the door (assuming the key fob is on your person).

Regards
Dave

I just tested and none of the functions you describe on the mirror works. I tested even folding the mirrors with the button inside the car. Then lock the car. Unlock using the comfort access and the mirrors do not unfold... I tried pushing the button just once to lock and also pushing the button twice (first to lock then to fold the mirrors) It is a no go...

Test this with the CTMfree deactivated:

Drive slowely and use the folding-nirror button to fold the mirrors. Then increase your speed until the mirror unfolds automatically! PM me at wich speed the mirrors will unfold.

I tested this with the CTMfree activated and the mirror unfolds somewhere between 40 and 50km/h
