Hi,
Could anyone with the 2010 model please check what system version they have?
Is it still premium 02-08, or have they updated it yet?

To get to the version No,
Be in Nav, then push knob to the right once or twice, then scroll down to the version number.

I doubt they would do it for free. Are there not other ways to 'acquire' the DVD?

There is positively no DVD available

- your dealership will use the electronic update feature that checks if you are entitled to obtain the update or not.

The owner's manual indicates that the system can be updated using a DVD though.

Roadrunner did you get a update, or was it already on?

Sent a email to customer services on Oct 29 and this was the response.

Dear Mr .....
Thank you for your email to BMW Customer Information.
The option of Professional Navigation across all models is 2008-2, there has not yet been an update released for the hard drive based navigation.

We have not yet been advised when we will see an updated version of the BMW Professional Navigation. I recommend registering your interest with you nearest BMW Approved Dealership who will contact you directly once news is released.

JohnT - have you actually spoken to your dealer about this? I had thought about email UK customer services today, but not much point after reading your post.

Yes spoke to my dealer in July, he seemed surprised it was a 08 ver. He done some digging and was told they were working on a new one and he would inform me when it was ready. I sent the emails to customer services because I haven't heard anything from the dealer yet.
It does seem strange that roadrunner has a updated 09 ver.
Maybe you should send a email to see if you get the same answer as me.

Response just in from BMW UK:

Thank you for your email to BMW Customer Information.

I can confirm that your BMW Z4 is fitted with the hard-drive based satellite navigation system with software version 2008/02.

A software release for the hard-drive navigation system in vehicles to 'update' the maps is not currently available; however, we anticipate it will be available shortly via the BMW approved dealer network who will also be able to provide you with a cost for this upgrade.

E-mailed UK BMW again, after reading about a update in Italy from lusebra, this is the reply

Thank you for your reply to BMW Customer Information.

The updated version is currently being installed into new vehicles built from March 1, 2010. However, it has not yet been confirmed when the updated version will be available as an after market product. We anticipate the release to be in May 2010 and I would advise remaining in contact with your local BMW approved Parts Department who will be able to let you know once this is available.

Do we know if this is an update we can do by purchasing the dvd and sticking it in the slot in the dash, or do the dealers have to do it?
