I need a new, cheaper, fun car.

2.) Probably the sanest thing you could possibly buy would be a new 2008 Honda Accord EX 4-cylinder with cloth seats and an automatic transmission. 3.) For "cheaper" and "fun" I'd suggest a "classic" BMW 2002 but it might be difficult to get a warranty for one.

Aside from your RWD/AWD requirement, I'd suggest a TSX 6 speed. I had one... loved the car - got rid of it because family needs dictated I get an automatic car. For a FWD car, the TSX handles extremely well.

It's a nice car. I looked into getting a white TSX in 6 speed as well a couple of years ago but the dealerships around here wouldn't budge. The only one that claims to have the only white 6 speed on the West Coast wanted $34,000 OTD, which I find to be extremely ridiculous because that's the TL price range territory.

Wow 34k OTD is nuts... I think I paid 27 or 28k OTD for mine brand new... Unfortunately I lost tons of money when I got rid of it (traded) 6 months later w/ just 8k miles on it. Ouch.
Anyhow, to the OP, you ought to at least drive one. My one complaint with that car was that you had to rev it big time to get any power, as the second changeover for the cam was around 6,000 rpm. With a 7100 rpm redline, that didn't leave much... it was made worse by the spacing of 1st and 2nd gear, which allowed the motor to drop just below the first changeover point around 4800 rpm. All that aside, in the mountains, the TSX rotates around corners almost as well as my 330, and far better than the TL that I had in between the two. |

Exactly! I honestly thought I can walk out with 27k OTD as I was planning on writing a check for the whole amount! Even the folks on Acurazine didn't believe me, lol. They seem to hold value quite well though, even used ones on eBay are still expensive for the mileage they have. I traded in my 04 Accord 11 months after owning it for an Evo. I lost $7,000 on the trade in. But when I traded the Evo in for the 335i..mann I lost almost double that! Hondas do hold value well for used cars. Hopefully the BMW will do the same in a couple of years.

Why did I trade? I bought it because I had a marathon commute and guessed correctly that gas prices would rise. Then I went to telecommuting, and no gas expense. I had one car too many. (Now I have 2 cars too many ) The TSX is a nice car and was the most reliable car I've ever owned. Absolutely no, zero, problems. The TSX is also the Honda Accord that the rest of the world that gets.

If you shop them used - '06 is a significant year for the TSX as they made some changes to the motor... it only shows as a 5 hp increase, but recall they changed the rating system at that time. The real increase is said to be around 12 or 13 hp... I had an '06 TSX and never drove a pre-'06 in a MT form... I can say it was far quicker than the '04 AT I test drove, but that doesn't prove much

One of my co-workers just bought an Infiniti G35 (or 37 -whatever, it's brand new!). Very nice ride, I'd have no problem getting one myself.
I was the inspiration for the purchase, btw. He used to drive a 10-year old Buick, and says one day after work I blew past him in the M Coupe like he standing still. He stood on it to try and catch up, and said it felt like he was in reverse, my tail-lights were disappearing so quickly. He realized it was time for an upgrade. |

Is this car to be a DD, or a secondary car.
If a secondary car, S2000, or maybe a Boxster S if you can get a used one that cheap. If a DD, G37 if you want something nice fun and luxurious; Evo/Sti if you want something fun, not luxurious and fast. |

Look at that 2008 Audi A4 Quattro. With the new B8 A4 coming out soon, they are really discounting the B7 A4 and offering great lease rates. I could have gotten a $37,000 car loaded with zero down at $400. The A4 with a chip is pretty fast and fun car!
