DSB 35i from the UK

Evening all, thought I'd post up on here as I've just bought a Z4 35i and will be using this forum for help and advice during my ownership (like I have done so far!).

I purchased the car off my dad for a good price, with the following spec;

2009 E89 35i
6MT
Deep Sea Blue
52k miles
293 style wheels
Professional Nav
Design Pure White
Lights package
Auto Air-Con
Sports, adjustable, heated seats
Parking Sensors
Comfort Access
Folding/anti-dazzle mirrors

I'm sure there's something I've missed, but i'm very happy with car. Great colour, engine and spec! A very nice car to drive, with a lot of potential!

Without further delay, here she is

Plus a picture of my previous ride, Honda Intega Type-R DC2.

Thanks,
Tom

Hello Tommy,

Nice ride, blue with pure white is realy good looking combination.

I'm now driven my second Z4 and in total since 2010, so I'm sure that you will enjoy it as well.

Thanks Fazer! I think it's a great combo too

I'm loving it so far, can see me owning it for a fair few years too.

Bought some black kidney grilles as well as some lower grilles from BMW, to spray black to match the kidneys.

Got them on this weekend and think the front looks great blacked out

Next.. H&R springs

Fair enough, good man for going manual! I'd have enjoyed the DCT but mainly for the novelty of it. In the real driving world I'm still a fan of manual, for now anyway

Yeah it may be that the UK market price is cheaper, I did get a very good price though since it was my Dad I bought it off

Saw your thread, very nice!

That makes sense.. I was getting a little jelly. Isn't the z4 a looker.. I get all type of people coming up wanting to know what car it is.

Just a little update;

Went about cleaning up the exhaust tips yesterday and got on alright. Not perfect but they're better than they were and with the rain that started coming down, I called it a day. Think i'll try and improve them further, come summer.

Also ordered some H&R sport springs this week so will hopefully get them on next weeekend. Looking forward to an improved appearance and hopefully handling! Much prefer a stiffer ride (oy oy), with less body roll and sharper turn in.

I'll get some before and after pictures up once they're on. In the meantime, I also enjoyed the sun we had here in the UK this week;

Update on the H&R's. They were installed Tuesday last week and well, I am very impressed!

Aesthetics: The drop has gone from a four finger arch gap, to just about 1 and a half (technical measurements I know), so she's sat perfectly now. Looks much more purposeful and isn't low enough to scrape on speed bumps so it's perfect!

Handling: I am surprised with the difference just springs can make. I had coilovers on my old Integra and that was a big improvement, especially with the adjustable damping. But I didn't think springs alone would make such an improvement.
The car rolls about 80% less than it did before, stays flat and responsive through corners and inspires confidence. I don't have the adjustable dampers, so maybe that's attributed to the difference as I've read before someone saying they didn't notice a difference and they had the adjustable dampers.

So all in all mega impressed with the H&R's

Great looking car mate.

I'm from the UK and have had my Zed for about a year now - time for some mods. Going to chuck on some KW1 coilies and 19" AG concave wheels and see how that goes. Good to see the H&R's sitting well. I was going to go down that route along with a set of spacers to bring the wheel into the arch a bit more.

I'll keep you updated with my set up. Here is a post in the UK forum.

Thanks dude, yours looks mean as! Very nice.

Yeah let me know how you get on with the KW1's, I'm sure I've heard good things about them. I'll look to get 10mm spacers on the rear and possibly 5's up front at some point to bring them out. Should sit perfect then!

I've not used that forum yet, didn't see too much on there on the E89 front so thought it was more e85's.

I've heard the undertray/splash panel scrape on a bump once or twice, but that was because I've gone over it a bit quicker than I should have. Apart from that it's absolutely fine, glad I went for them over the Eibachs, don't think I would have been happy with the drop on them.

thanks for the feedback the drop on the Eibachs is more like 15mm front 5mm rear not 20/10 as they state

The H & R does look mega low ! , glad the speed bumps clear
