In about 2001 I worked as a part time Repo man/Impound tow truck driver (I was VERY good at repossession, most fun I have ever had. I LOVED that job). A 'mechanic' at my company offered to sell me the company shop car, a 1990 ish Honda Civic sedan with a manual transmission. I was actually looking for an economical DD at the time, so he had my ear. Well when he walked me over to the car I realized I had already driven the car. I had actually repossessed it a few months earlier and it was sold at auction and this dope had purchased it. The car was actually pretty nice and tastefully modded. Coil overs, a decent exhaust that was not too ricey, an OEM-like trunk mounted spoiler, CAI, short shifter, very nice wheels and tires etc. Here is the problem: It was SUPER SLOW. Keep in mind, I have already driven this car and this guy does not know this as he starts to inform me about this car and all of its....uuuum abilities.

He starts off with (I am not fucking kidding here): "You may or may not know this, but all Honda's are designed from the factory to be race cars." (with a straight face). "This car in particular is a limited edition with fuel injection." I respond with a straight face, "Oh wow, is it fast?" He says "One of the fastest compact cars in the world!" He is just getting started. He continues: "On the street in front of this shop (about 6 blocks long, end to end) I have gotten it to 140, before the end of the street. If it was not for the special track package gearing, I would have probably hit 155 or 160 (again, 6 blocks). Last time I took it to the track I broke several track records. They told me I could not come back until I installed a roll cage. This car can take any corner at eighty-five to a hundred MPH."(yes, he spelled out MPH) So I am simultaneously very amused, yet extremely offended that somebody would think that I am so gullible to believe this load of shit. I say to him "so it must have REALLY good brakes?". He looks really confused and with his face I see he wants to respond and I interrupt him with "to accelerate to 140 plus and brake to a stop in just a few blocks?" Look on his face was great, kinda like 'Ruh-roh Shaggy'. He is now thinking really hard and says "I hardly ever use the brakes, I just take the turn at the end of the street."
