Engine warning light came on

I was driving along the highway at 80 km/hr and decided to clear some carbon on the quiet straight road. Stepped on the pedal at rev up to 5500 rpm while hitting 130km/hr in double quick time. Suddenly, I saw the engine warning light (yellow) came up. Immediately slow down to the road shoulder. Check the temp. Seemed ok since its only at 120 degree C. Before I off the engine, the yellow engine warning light disappeared. I shutdown the engine and started it again. No more yellow engine warning sign on the instrument cluster. My e89 drives normally. No lost in power. But I am a bit more careful not too rev beyond 5500 rpm until I can find out what went wrong. Any one experienced similar issue? What's the prob and the fix?

The next step is to make an appointment with your local BMW service department.

Spot on..Sent in my car to the dealership workshop. Fault code shows that it's the cylinder 5 misfired. Told me quite common for twin-turbo engine as there are lots of strained on ignition coils when you revved hard. So just changed No.5 ignition coil..a 20 mins job. So will try to rev hard soon and see if the new ignition coil did solve the problem.

I was also told that if multi-cylinder start misfiring, then it may be something else...failed HPFP maybe?
