Doesn't know what she's talking about. I have the Freedom card which I earn 5% in bonus categories and trasfer 1:1 points to my reserve card MONTHLY.

Well now the questions is:

Which card should i downgrade my chase sapphire preferred to?

-Freedom (5% cash back on category spend, 1% on all others)
-Freedom Unlimited (1.5% points on all categories)

Are the above in parentheses correct? Also could somebody explain the categories? do they rotate monthly or are they set?

I just applied and got accepted as well. Took just a couple of minutes online. Seems like a no-brainer card, looks like it's going to be my new daily.

Freedom 5% categories rotate quarterly and are capped at $1500.

If you are a big spender, I'd get the freedom Unlimited for everything besides travel/dining (obviously want to use Reserve for those).

Many of us have known about the card for weeks... there was quite a bit of buzz around this one.

There's also this card. They're matching the points. Looks tougher to get approved. I got the reserve as well.

I did too. I tried calling Chase about it like 3 weeks ago and they said I had to wait.

There are many n00bs in here too.

Freedom 5% if what you should solely get. Categories are rotating quarterly. Check out their website on details. 1% on all other transactions, but you can get bonus % if you use Chase shopping portal.

Read my post on prior page. IMO, there's no reason to hold the Freedom Unlimited. If you want high earnings rate, there's a 2% Citi card out there. If you want to retain Chase UR, there's no need to hold both Freedom and Unlimited. In this case, you have better coverage owning the Freedom 5%, and then getting the Citi 2%.

Yeah they don't have an ETA for delivery but they are shipping as quickly as they can be printed. My guess is early next week we should have them.

Good point on the cap, didn't realize it. Example of the 5% categories to a straight 2% on everything -

Chase Freedom categories - https://creditcards.chase.com/freedom/activate

Right now looks like restaurants and wholesale clubes and you need to register each quarter or don't get the 5% on anything.

I think benefit example of Freedom - over the quarter you max out the categories at the $1500 limit (go some amount over because you can't hit it exactly and have to keep track and get 1%) - save $75

Or you go with the standard 2% on everything - same $1500 (then you can go over and still get the savings) - save $30.

Save $45 a quarter or $15 a month

For the above, make sure you can max out the categories, decide if dealing with two Visa cards and remembering which charges to use each for (keeping track of the categories), registering for the categories every quarter, paying two bills (either set up automatic payment or pay it as it is due) is worth saving $15 a month.

Maybe the above it wrong?

They have auto enroll so you don't even have to remember every quarter.

i only have x2 cards in my wallet: debit card + amex plat.
amex plat is my first and only card and i am a member for almost a decade now.

if i were to get the chase reserve card and cancel my amex plat, what will happen with my credit score, credit limits, etc?

my current limit on amex is $40k with an additional line of credit available.

You shouldn't have a limit on your Amex Platinum at all. Also, what you should have done is use the Amex Everyday Preferred card (which is an actual credit card, not a charge card) in conjunction with your Platinum to accelerate your point accumulation. That's what I did and it rocked.

You also ALWAYS keep the credit card with the longest history. What you should do is downgrade your Platinum to a gold then open the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

So confused- can we use the digital card for Priority Pass or no? I called Chase Benefits and PP and they said that it's only if you buy direct through PP. Yet others have said that Chase told them we can use PP digital card.

If not, and you haven't heard from them on credit approval yet, you should call the reconsideration line to move things along.
