Brake cooling
Anyone have a solution for cooling the front brakes?
Have a massive problem with overheated brakes on the track. With Toyo 888 and PFB 08 pads there is almost impossible not to overheat the brakes. Especially the left front goes about 130-160 degrees Celsius hotter than the right. Right wheel got some cooling thru the oilcooler outlet. But the left one does not get much air at all! 348x30 discs. Destroyed the pads after 40 laps (got cracks and chips) discs not so beautiful either. |

No, sorry, over here it's 20 minutes sessions so depending on the track 10-15 laps.
I have not checked the left intake all the way but if there is a duct behind it doesn't have an outlet like the right one with the oilcooler. Have to check this. I am looking for a solution where i don't need to open new holes in the bumper. Found some nice factory kits and also a DIY solution for 135, 335 and M3. But nothing for the E89. Probably going for a 335 kit and mod it to fit my car. Thanks nicknaz :-) |

On my Z4 I used the Bimmerworld carbon fiber backing plates which fit perfectly after a little trimming and then modified the lower front grills to fit universal air ducts, then just standard ducting hose between them. I did have to also relocate the factory horn for the drivers side ducting to fit and cut some holes in the plastic fender liners for routing, but overall pretty easy.
Here's some pics
