emblems removal problems
Has anyone removed their side emblem and hood emblem? I'm having a really hard time taking them off. I tried a flathead with towel wrapped around; also tried to put a strong hard plastic band under the emblem to pull it off but it wont budge. Are these things bolted on? Also has anyone removed the antenna?
I'm Wrapping my car right now and need to remove these things for better results. Thanks |

They are bolted on. If you go to www.realoem.com and drill down to these parts you'll see.

Im sure that you will start seeing posts on how to replace these since these roundels are starting to fail. However, at this time i dont think i have fond one. Just a quick thought though can you loosen the wheel well and moveit out of the way enough to get your hand back there? I think it is a 10mm bolt holding it on. If i get a moment i will go check to see what the best plan of attack for this one is if that doesnt work.

I was able to just pry it out. Mine did not have the locking nuts. Although it took a lot of force to remove. Used a paint can opener/key to start and then was able to slide a plastic strap under the emblem and pull hard. Came right out. It did break one of the plastic pins but you could just push it through the fender.

this plastic pin that broke is the one that has a nut on the back side of it. it secures it to the fender. Im sure that this is nothing 3m tape cant handle though.

The roundels are not bolted on and there is no "nut". They are simply held in by the two or three plastic prongs on the back of the roundel and inserted into the pre drilled holes in the hood or the side. There are usually grommets to hold the badge in snugly - but there is no bolt holding them in from the inside of the body. So with a little effort and VERY careful prying (to protect the paint), they usually pop right out without issue.

The paint never got touched with the metal tool. It has a hook on the end that you can get under the roundel with and just pull towards you. That loosened it enough to use a plastic strap (the kind that is used to wrap pallets with) and yank hard. Came right off.

No they are not the same part number. Each part is a separate piece. I assume you are talking about fender emblems though since there are not any on the bumpers at all. There is one emblem on the hood, one one the boot and two on the fenders on each side.

What are you talking About? There is a roundel on the front bumper of the z4 e89... I was asking if that roundel is the same roundel part number as the roundels that are on each fender. I do know that they are both the same size...
