E89 09 30i battery issue

my 09 BMW oem battery was completely dead......
Can anybody advise me with followings:
1. the lifespan of the bmw oem battery
2. should i get replacement from bmw or aftermarket brands (eg. Fiamm)

5 years is in the normal lifespan range. Maybe on the short side but there's a lot of variables (using the roof a lot with the engine off, leaving the car idle for extended periods without a trickle charger, etc).
All batteries must have a vent tube. Make sure if you go aftermarket that it has this. And make sure it has the proper specs.
A new battery has to to registered with the ECU so if BMW doesn't do the install , you or someone else must do this or bring it to BMW. It requires a laptop, cable and software.

Thanks bro....what will happen if i installed the aftermarket battery (eg. Fiamm Titanium Plus) without registered with ECU?

So as your battery loses strength, the computer recognizes this and draws more power from the battery at start up. If you don't tell the computer there's a new battery, it will continue to do so and your new battery won't last as long.
