Golf tee without a jack?

So going to do this finally to the Z. (i search) I know its on the right exhaust can as you look at the Z from the rear. Is it possible to disconnect and plug without lifting the car: Mine is in an underground lot and dont have access to a jack without heading to a shop of sorts. I was planning on disconnecting those those and plugging it as it would be easier to connect than cutting off a ziptie.

Also is gas mileage really affected by this due to lack of back pressure?

yes. i put a rug on the ground and lay down next to the exhaust tip. it's quite easy to find the S shaped hose, u don't even need to get your face dirty.

I don't know about backpressure. I haven't noticed any change in gas mileage, mine is steady below 11L/100km ever since day 1.

I don't believe in back pressure on this turbo car. I think it's a myth, but people are welcome to prove otherwise. I'm open ears.

The flap has no effect on anything, despite all the 'true/fact' guesswork you may read about it, on anything other than the sound.

BMW placed this flap on the exhaust to quieten it down at startup and prevent drone. I've disabled mine long ago, no difference to anything other than its louder.

There's little difference when driving at speed. A bit more 'boom' when pushing the throttle in high gears. Its at low speeds its much louder. Especially on the DCT with the overrun pops.. they sound great. The only cringeworthy element is a cold start when the revs rise up and settle down, that is loud and I assume my neighbours aren't happy with that.

glad mine is in an underground lot for the building, i am sure it will resonate quite a distance in there on cold starts.

So just tried it i could easily cover the hose but the valve, there is NO way a golf tee could fit in the metal valve portion. What other options to cover the value? Only I can think of is a rubber hose with an end cover.

I just popped a small screw in the hose... its thread stops it moving and its enough to block the vacuum.

i think there is a way to unplug it in the trunk too. not on the ground at all. My 1 is that way and i just popped open the trunk and disconnected the connecter to the value there and put the carpet back. it was on the left hand side of the car facing the front. not sure if it is doable in the z or not but worth trying.

My Z doesnt have the flap so i cannot tell you for sure.

I cut a piece of soft eraser. and used that to block the metal value portion. after a year it's still on there. just dirty.

Round 2 and this time its done. I was at the store and couldn't find anything to cover the plugs well until I stumbled into the needle and thread section. Low and behold I found a great option. Milward stich stopper comes with 4 stoppers that were designed for needs. Perfect they are hard plastic that that comes with 1 large 1 medium and 2 small stoppers.

The large one fits the metal valve piece perfectly while the medium covers the plastic pipe value piece perfectly. Since its mad of very hard yet flexable plastic it made a really tight seal and im not worried about heat on these 2 pieces.

Started it up in the underground garage and the difference is instantaneous. Nice deep and noticeable louder note on coldstart deep base on the 35iS stock exhaust. Looking forward to driving it on the 300 mile road trip for easter weekend to Monaco. 3 days 2 nights on the french Rivera, albeit a crisp weather Rivera.

I just read the Thread.
I just looked under the right muffler on the Z and the value and rubber hose are there and connected.
What does this valve do?
With the Z not running the valve is in the down position and assumed closed and can be pushed up or opened manually.
When running I am assuming that the hose is a vaccum hose and opens the Valve? ONLY when Running At Speed?
Disconnecting the vacuum hose will leave this valve closed and make the sound louder?
Also confirm you must plug both the hose size and the valve side?
Thanx in advance for answering my questions.

Thanx for the picture
I took the thread recommendation and did a search with many results found for many answers to my questions.
The question I did not see answered is there a need to plug the valve side, even if just to keep dirt out of it?

You need to plug it to keep dirt out. Its a cylonoid. Getting dirt in there will (if enough gets in) block or disable the value completely. Strongly urged to block it. You can go to homedepot and ask them for valve cover caps work perfectly. I found a solution in a different manner as above but works like a charm.

Good call, sorry my English isn't the best these days as the natives, but now I am thinking maybe some battle star galactica this weekend.
