Satellite Radio Preparation
Hi all,
According to the factory spec, my car is wired for Satellite radio. What is the process to have this activated on my car? I also have the Idrive, and the Satellite radio option on the menu is not present, so I suspect I need to take the car in to be coded? Please advise thanks, |

Actually, instead of going to the dealership, I would use bimmer-tech.com to retrofit the Sirius XM service...
Here's a direct link to their product: http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...radio-retrofit Instead of paying $375+tax at a dealership, you can do this option, where you pay about 25-30% less, AND you get a top-quality OBDII to USB cable that you get to keep. A quick review of the process: just place your order online, and the cable will be shipped to you (mine arrived in just 3 days). Once the cable arrives, connect it to your OBDII port and your PC (within Wi-Fi/internet range). Then get to the bimmer-tech site and connect to Skype to begin a chat-only Skype (not a video-conversation, just text only). The staff will respond immediately (if you connect during business hours, obviously). They will instruct you on the entire process through Skype. It took them 14 minutes from start to stop to configure my car. After the process is done, just end the Skype call and disconnect the cable, then call Sirius to have them activate your service. Just mention to them that you purchased the one-year All-Access free subscription service in a BMW and they'll know what to do. That's it! So, for $320ish you get: (1) Sirius activated (2) one-year subscription (3) OBDII to USB cable (the high quality kind, not the knock-off) (4) a pretty good amount of savings based on dealership prices (5) no need to schedule a visit to the dealership If you have any questions, just shoot me a PM, or ask bimmer-tech...their username is Patrys@BimmerTech |
