That is quite normal for Alberta

Just a heads up for you that plan to change tires and have winter tires mounted on your stock alloy wheels. I strongly recommend you have that done at a BMW Dealership, I know you will properly pay a bit more to have it done, however, should they damage your wheel then BMW will have to replace it also.

Just thinking out loud here ... cover yourselves for the eventuality the alloy wheels are very delicate.

Four Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 RFT Runflat tires have arrived at my local installer and will be mounted on the stock 17" rims on Wednesday.

I'm going with four identical 225/45R-17 tires per the manual.
And yes, they're run-flats as I don't feel like getting stuck on the side of the road in cold weather. I'll get non-RFT on new 18" wheels comes Spring.

Anyway, will post pics and driving impressions later next week.

A bit of a tangent:

What are you doing with your summer tires? Why do ppl suggest to pump it (what exactly, 5psi?) over the recommended psi?, before storing them away for the winter? Thx.

For the last 5 years, Ive had them unmounted, then remounted in the spring. I've had no problem whatsoever with that scheme.

If you leave them mounted on wheels, I see no reason to overinflate them. That's needed only if you store your car, to avoid flat spots.

I just got the Pirelli Sottozeros installed:
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Pi...o-Serie-II.htm

Just wondering what psi should I be running these? Should these tires be rotated since all 4 are the same? Thx.

Same psi as on your door sticker, and if they're the same all around do the normal rotation cross.

Does it matter that my summers were 18s and these winters 17s?

Check the manual. BMW has recommended pressures for snow tires.

For 17" wheels it's 36 psi front, 44 psi rear. Higher in the rear since they're the same size as the fronts.

On since Monday, switching to 17 inch makes the ride a bit softer allthough they are winter tires... Will let you know how they are on longer distances in the rain.

Yeah, but you have to bear the social stigma of driving an undemocratic sports car in the People's Republic of Kalifornia...

Well, I feel safe and can go faster again now that I have my winters on. The summers were making my car a bit skittish.
