Help with 2012 remote fob service data resync

Recently when I was at the dealer with my 335i, I asked my service guy to check my 2012 Z4 key fob to find out if there was any service coming up. He took the fob and put it in the fob reader and there was no data. He said I needed to resync the service data. I can’t remember what he told me I had to do to resync the data on my fob to my car. Can anyone help me out here?

Insert it into the key hole in the dash and start the car.

I hope it’s that easy... I am off to the BMW dealer and I will find out. He said something like turn the car on to the accessory position, push and hold the unlock button. Push the ignition button with my foot off the brake... etc, etc..
