M3 style shift paddles on z4
Hi All, im about to become an owner of a Z4 35i and im wondering if its possible to fit the M3 style of shift paddles? You use your fingers rather than your thumb as is the case on the Z4.
Thanks in advance! |

So, they will be available soon as OEM part for retrofitting. It is not cheap (350-400$) but a pull-pull system is way better than a push-pull... Last edited by javol; 01-13-2012 at 05:34 AM.. |

Will the M3 shifter pedal fit our Z4 35i ??if yes what is the part# plz.
I am talking more about the pedal itself rather the mechanism (of pull-down VS pull-pull) |

That looks very interesting! On a side note regarding shifting in manual mode on the DCT, do you find that the car automatically upshifts for you when you hit around 5500-6000rpm? I have never been able to hit more than 6000rpm.

I always use the car in manual mode (except in the FULL FULL rush hour) and i'm able to hit 7000 RPM, without problems. Probably it is useless, since power delivery drops after 6000 RPM, but if i want to insist, the car does NOT shift for me @ 5500-6000 when in manual mode. Never. Check the display. Real manual mode is "M"; M1, M2, etc... Do not confund with "sport mode", labeled by "S", S1, S2, etc...

It is probably shifting near 6k for you when you're in Normal/Manual and not in Sport/Manual or Sport+/Manual. A nice feature of the JB4 tuner is setting the Shift Lights at your choice of 100 rpm increments between 6k and 7k rpm. The 2 green turn signals in the instrument cluster flash!
True, 6-6100 rpm results in the fastest acceleration. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=fBv40XoMFnw

Did anyone successfully retrofit the new shifters from the 2012 models to the older ones. I've glanced through and noticed they are physically similar but not sure about the wiring. Anyone? Cheers! |

As for the LCI style shifters, I was told by BMW that we would have to change the steering wheel as well since they are sold as a set, paddles and steering wheel. It is outrageous. |
