I've owned and driven 1/3/5 series and also e85 which all had (manual) throttle lag.

He bought a honda s2000 and I had no idea what he was talking about until I drove it.
Really? Not my experience at all. I have a 335i (non-DCT) and the 35is (DCT). The 35is with DCT has a very noticeable start up lag while the 335i does not. When I put the DCT into manual mode, I get the response that my 335i has.

You need to drive a direct throttle car. There aren't many left now with all the stability control regs. Then you'll see the difference. You've probably just got used to the processing delay.

You are correct Mayhem. I owned a 135i before my 35i and there was no lag in my 135i 6MT. There is noticeable lag in my Z4 35i DCT. The lag that is experienced is coming from the DCT. Now, I am not complaining because shifting is significantly quicker than the 6MT in every other gear except when you are coming out of 1st.

That's the point I was making. Driving an MT or DCT in manual provides for an immediate response to shifting. I makes such a huge difference, I don't know why DCT drivers are leaving it in automatic (outside of being in a traffic jam).

Hey guys, check out this thread with the EXACT discussion among 335is drivers

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=585797

They speculate and discuss the same things we are and in the end agree it is normal for the DCT

It is normal. Just undesirable.
