I've always been into tech and computers since I was a kid, but everything is so tech driven that the kids are into it much younger. I've seen kindergartners with cell phones. He's still planning on getting a lambo when he grows up.
One of the most beautiful things about children is their inspiring yearning for knowledge and their fearlessness to dream.

We could really learn a lot from kids, who know so little of life. I know I've tried to dedicate my life this year to being more of that, and less of what I restrict myself to be.

Last Thursday he hit is first little league HR and was mobbed by his teammates and hit another one Wednesday night. Also two weeks ago there was a ceremony and made the honor roll for the 3rd qtr. As a child I've always liked baseball but stunk as hell, never played in little league and didn't even make the first cut from HS. He loves baseball, enjoys it and tries to be a good teammate by comforting teammates if they cry (ie striking out, making errors, etc...). Tomorrow is the last game of the season before playoffs next week so he's pumped up.

Post pics of your kids!

No pics yet, but we start All-Stars District playoffs Friday. AND we get home field thru the next sectional as well, I think. That means baseball during reasonable temperatures, generally not exceeding 80.

Yeah, heat is what scares me as he'll go to the University of Miami for a week of baseball camp. I may have him go just before school starts in mid August as I don't want him sweating his little balls off in July.

I dunno what to say because my boy is only 2 1/2. What my wife and I have found odd is that everywhere we go (this is a daily occurrence), someone points out how cute he is. Fine, there are a lot of nice people out there, especially when it comes to kids.

But, when he was younger, one of the pediatricians said, "You are the cutest baby in the world." So I stopped that doctor and asked her why she would say that, as she must see lots of kids. Without really smiling, she said all our babies and kids are beautiful, but your son is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen.

About 3 mos. ago we went to what some argue is the best children's hospital in the US (had an issue). That pediatrician goes, "OMG. You are insanely cute."

Once again, I say back the truck up, why did you say that, and it was the same routine.

I get it. People are nice. But these examples seem to be above and beyond. I think my son is good looking. He didn't get it from me, probably my wife. So if he is good looking, I sincerely hope he can go through life and benefit from it, because sure as sh**, I know what it's like to go through life ugly!

I thought I would mention something else that my mom pointed out....in our day, parents pushed us, yes. We had to play sports, we had to get into an Ivy League school, blah blah blah. But today, it's another level.

Ok, the Ivy league school....when I went, the acceptance rate was 39%. Today, it's < 9%. Some are < 5%.

I know a kid who had straight A's from a prep school, and top 99% on the SAT and ACT. He was rejected by Boston College. HUH? They accept ~ 29-31%.

I had my son on skates at age 17 mos., because I bought into the crawl/walk/hockey notion.

My mom said, sometimes, parents in your generation need to think about what's important. Do they need to play hockey at 4, violin at 3, and start SAT prep at 9? I dunno, I really don't.

Mebbe it is like the ugly friend effect? Like...next to you, he's insanely cute? I kid, I kid - a lot of people say that about my son too and I don't really know why either. Except for the people that say it and don't know him, I just write it off as bias.
