That is the first thing we replaced when we picked up our 35i. The 30i black ones look MUCH better. The postage from here to the uk would be prohibitive.

I just did my 2012 35is, piece of cake just follow the service bulletin. Grip the grill in the middle and pull up and out for the bottom. Then pull gently on the sides and pull down and out on the top. They come right off and then just pop the new ones on. Took 10m, no tools and did not have open the hood.

I would also like to see the black grille on a silver Z4. Don't know how that'll look? Maybe time for some photoshopping?

Here is another look- I painted the slats High Gloss Black and left the chrome ring to match the chrome hood Roundel. Easy and inexpensive mod.
I then removed and wrapped the lower silver grills in black gloss CF wrap. I will be painting the black slanted plastic peice separting the middle and outer grill Space Grey this spring to break up the black.

For those of you that were after a pic of a Silver Z4 with the Black Grills:
Apologies for the dirty car...not the best pics as its pretty grey and overcast in london The grills were fairly easy to fit...I didnt use any tools and got around the issue of not having enough space for the bottom 2 tabs but pushing the foam cover of the front bar downwards...this gave me ample room to put my fingers into the bottom tabs and release the grill Once the first one is out the second was fairly easy...again i slide the foam guard slightly down and removed the second...then put the foam guard back in place and put the grill in place |

I walked into the dealership (in Rockville MD) and told them I wanted to buy them. The last time that I talked to them, I told them I was thinking about getting them and they had them in stock, but I chickened out.
This time, they said they'd have to order them. They were ready for pickup two days later. ~$70 a piece - Total ~$140 |

Thought I'd bump this thread. Is the dealer basically the way to go on these?
I found some on sale an online retailer that apparently shall not be named, but wasn't sure if they were legit OEM or knockoffs. |
