Cool Storage confusion

Can anyone offer a comprehensive list showing the differences between the "standard" and "Extra" storage configurations?

I know (think) already that the "Extra Storage option" adds...

- Center pass through with removable plastic shelves (ski bag/with Cold Weather Package)
- Cargo Nets on transmission tunnel
- Bungie tie downs in the trunk floor

But I also noticed a couple of pictures throughout the forum that confused me.

- Driver's side under-dash compartment

- Hinged cover on the front center console 'cubby'

Okay - petty as they might be... I'd kinda like both of these options & I ordered "extra storage"... but don't have them. I also can't seem to find a definitive list of what SHOULD be included with this option.

I know you'all can solve the mystery. I bow to your expertise!...

AFAIK, in 2009, this was the contents of the storage package (U.S. models).
Storage package (includes elastic nets on back panel of seats and in passenger footwell; partition storage compartment in
the through-load area; 1 clothes hook attached to each roll-bar; attachment straps in the luggage compartment)

The Cold Weather package adds the ski bag to the pass through.

The pic of the bin left of the wheel is European models only (I believe).

I have the cubby in the console. The lid is an ash tay for the smoker's package.

- So what makes those "Europeans" so special that they get an extra storage bin???

- What is this "a-s-h" "t-r-a-y" thing you mention?
I seem to remember reading about them a LONG time ago... but I thought they were antiques!?!

Perhaps the extra storage bin is to hold cigarettes

It's the US that is special. I believe it has to do with US anti-submarining regulations. Or requiring extra padding where the storage bin is located for everwhere else in the world. It would be handy for coins, mints, etc.

There;s a storage bin in the left side of the trunk, above the rear wheel. Just twist the knob to open.

Thanks jparnes1

I hope you're Luvin' your new Z as much as I am!

The PC CA showed me the bin in the trunk (I didn't know about it prior to delivery).

This is the bin that really confused me...

That one just about holds a pack of cigarettes. I crammed the "tool kit" and a small flashlight in there.
I also managed to fit a spare quart of oil around the battery under the trunk floor.

Likely a Euro model. Our current R32 did not have the left side storage but the Euro version does. On the VW it was a very easy retorfit to add the extra storage. No doubt one of the BMW parts suppliers can locate the correct part numbers to do the same for the Z4.
