... all this hype, but does it have OLEDs though?

/sarcasm.

What a world we live in where we can still hear stories about finding gems like this M1.

Amazing how a couple of decades makes all the difference! "Dat Comp" suspension sounds like a total ricer mod!

Over-hyped car for sure.
I still do like it though.

I bought the car for $1000 in 2004, sold it in 2007 for $5000. I wanted more but the owner was a total Datsun head, so I knew it was going to a good home. I don't even know why the hell I sold it, now I have the garage space and no cars.

It's short for "Datsun Competition", it's the equivalent of MPerformance for our cars. Sounds like a ricer when I put it in the "dat comp" short hand for sure.

BMW needs to get back to its roots and build this car again!!! But can it have an automatic, because I can't drive a manual? Oh, and it needs power seats because my wife drives it sometimes. Ooh, and does it come with Apple CarPlay? And, even though the power seats I have to have add tons of weight, BMW is screwing us if they don't put a carbon fiber roof on it to lower the center of gravity's weight differential (wth?!?)! Plus OLEDS!

FWIW, some folks call the 3.0CSL the "Batmobile:"

For clarification, there were 1096 E9 3.0 CSL produced, which was the performance version of the 3.0 CS using aluminium and thinner body pannels and without most of the comfort elements of the CS. They weighed about 440 pounds less than the CS. Of those CSL, only 110 were the "Batmobile" versions produced in the last year and came with the racing kit including a big rear spoiler. Of course these batmobile versions are the most valuable. The "regular" versions of the CSL are worth much less than the batmobiles of course, which can be worth up to $200,000...

I'm not sure what would be a great barn find in your book. IMO it's a great barn find for any brand to find such and original car that looks to be in great condition... For a BMW, I dare say it's a fantastic barn find since it's one of their most iconic car... Only the 507 is worth more money. I'm pretty sure that in a few years these M1 will reach the million dollar value...

Rolling on staggered Pirelli Cinturato P7's.

"In the mid-seventies Pirelli invented the low profile tyre: it's called P7 and it's one of the most significant inventions after the radial Cinturato, driving force of a transfer of knowledge from races to the mass market. The racing debut of the P7 takes place at the Rally of the Four Regions in 1974, where the "dragon" Munari leads Stratos to victory."

How do you buy a car like that and leave it in a barn - only people in the know would buy an M1 it's not like a Fiesta?

A GTO or Dino would be much better.

The Dino is worth about the same price as the M1. All the 250 GTO's are accounted for... And we're in a BMW forum. As far as I can recall, the 507 belonging to Elvis ( now part of the BMW museum) is the last important barn find...
