OT - New M5
Wow.
Just took the Z4 in to get a top up of oil. (The dealer didn't even charge me for it - Wow) They had a demo M5 there in the showroom. With 15 minutes to kill and a friendly salesman, I had the keys and out the door. Wow More grunt than the Z4 and X3. Amazing thrust from any gear. Was doing 150kph when I hit the freeway and realised what kind of speed I had put on in 50 metres of on ramp - Wow. But, it still has that little delay between throttle and thump that I find distracting on the Z4. Must be a DCT trait. Still an awesome car. I would happily trade the Z and X in on one, but I fear we could not survive as a single car family. (And at $250K each here, I couldn't afford two of them)

I want the new M5 for sure. I had an '02. Still the best car ever.
I didn't really like the E60 M5. It just doesn't appeal to me to have to wind it out to get into the power. I had a 550i instead. The new M5 should be awesome. I like the TT V8 in the X5. It feels darn quick.... It will be late summer before the M5 is on the streets in the U.S. but I saw a pre-prod model a few weeks ago and talked to the M brand manager. Just missed getting a ride too...

Anybody saw the Top Gear episode last night? They test drove the M5 and had nothing but good things to say about it. Hammond even said it is the best car in the world right now.

That's because Hammond drove it and not Clarkson. Clarkson called the old M5 the stupidest car in the world. Then he pushed the M button =)

Generally speaking I hate the E60 5-Series, but I love the E60 M5. It is a phenomenal car. It's no good as a DD, but on a twisty back country road or around a track it's a beast.
The F10 seems like a much better car on aesthetics alone inside out, but I hope the new M5 is as good a drivers car as the last one was. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnZVkdzXzFQ
