Question Z4 E89 quality concern

Hello,
I entered my Z4 to the local BMW dealer for the following problems:
- noise (clunk) coming from the differencial when changing from second to first gear
- noise (crack) coming from the passenger door
- rateling passenger seat
- resonance sounds coming from the trunk

The following action was operated under warranty:
- reprogramming of the steptronic gearbox
- cleaning and lubrication of all joints of the roof and doors
- fixed lose bold (?) on passenger seat

My experience after 1 week of use after the checkup:
- noise coming from the differential when changing from second to first gear is still present
- crack in the passenger door is worse after lubrication of joints
- passenger seat is still rattling
- resonance sounds coming from the trunk still apparent

They also told me that no problems are now'n for the E89 and that no recall orders are foreseen by BMW.
Since my brother has the same car and the same problems, it seems this is more a quality concern of the Z4.
Guess I'l try once more to convince the dealer to fix these problems.

Please let us now your experience

I have not had these same issues on my car but have had others.
- I've had a glove box rattle which I fixed by putting felt pad in the latch holes
- Another rattle I could have sworn to come from the dashboard was actually coming from the vanity mirrors shaking when on rough road. The dealer added two big black felt pads there fixing 80% of the rattle. It is still there on very rough road.
-I am starting to hear a rattle from behing the driver seat. Not sure what it is yet.

What resonance from the trunk do you hear? Are you sure it is not just your RFTs being noisy?

Driver's seat only fix that I know is to position seat all the way back and seat back firmly against back of car. This position doesn't allow the seat to rattle. My wife's Jaguar had this problem. Was never resolved.

Passenger door possibly latch is not seated properly.

The other issue I found in the truck going over bumps is the moveable shelf where it contacts bottom of trunk where metal latch secures over plastic post. My Z4 the metal didn't latch was loose and rattled over bumps. In addition the bottom of this latch is a metal piece that contacts the bottom of the trunk that would make the sound worst. Put black tape around post and the bottom of the metal piece. Car sounds much less.

Aug 2009 E89, 12K km

Rattling roof when up, went to dealer to fix, they -said they- lubricated, tighten etc etc- test drove the car with them, annoying noise still there.
They proposed i visit a more "experienced with the issue" dealer, will do that in mid Sep, since summer in Greece -almost- everybody is on vacation :-)

Will post accordingly. From what i am reading in the forum, every now and then E89s come with roof rattles, most are dealt with however, hopefully...

I would not be unduly worried about issues that a specific BMW has; they make a lot of cars, and once and a while something will not be right. It will most likely be something that is hand-done, as opposed to a robot. They stand behind their work.
