Whoops !! You're right - 200 hours... but hey, thnat's still longer than it would take me to drive coast to coast - DIAGONALLY !!

Yup, I understand you may not know exaclty what you want to listen to at any given time but 20 - 30 hours of one's favorites of each genre should suffice !!!

Sorry guys, I am having trouble with my new car which I picked up today. The car itself is fantastic - very happy, but I just can't seem to get the music system to copy songs well.
I tried to plug in my ipod touch into the glovebox - no dice. Would not recognise.
I plugged a USB flash drive with songs on it - copied them over, but unfortunately did it in such a way that all the songs are in the same folder.
There is no distinction of albums etc.

How have you organised your mp3 songs into albums in the onboard hard drive system?

I do not really want to have to have an ipod plugged into the center console all the time.

Thanks

Have you used the music search function?

It uses the metadata on the MP3 files to sort them by artist and album.

The only problem with dumping them all in the same folder is that you cannot delete individual tracks and albums. You need to delete the whole directory.

My solution was to store each album separately in its own folder on the flash drive, so when it was uploaded it created a structure like

.USB1 --- ACDC Live
. --- U218
. --- Queen The Works
. --- Evanescence
. --- etc...
.USB2 --- ACDC Iron Man 2
. --- etc...

The music search still ignores the folders, and I can select by artist, genre, song name, album name, etc.
It also lets me play back the top50 songs that I have listened to.

This structure also lets you delete individual albums if you need to free up space.

On the USB ports, the one in the dash seems to only be for uploading / downloading, the one in the centre console is for playing only.

I dont get an iPhone until next week, so I have no idea how its integration will work when I dump the music files onto it as well...

Good luck, and try the music search - it works really well.
