I think that's a much lower peak torque level than the 35iS, but that begs the question - how come the Z4M is almost as quick to 60 (4.9 secs), despite that disadvantage? Its lower weight?
The BMW claim of 0-60 in 5.0 seconds for the 35i with DCT and 4.7 for the new 35is is way too conservative. I have no idea why they don't want to post the actual numbers.
Road/Track already tested a 35i with DCT at 4.7 and Motor Trend did it in 4.3. That means the 35is should be between 4.1 - 4.4. This should come as no surprise, since the Boxster S best test runs have been 4.3. There is absolutely no reason why the 35i would not be as fast as the Boxster S. It has a considerably more Torque to compensate for extra weight and the 20 less HP. Pehaps more favorable gear ratios too, I don't know for sure.

Whether they were conservative with the 2008 Z4 M figure of 4.9 or not, I don't know. That would involve researching it's best test times to see if they are better than the BMW claim of 4.9. It would seem that there would be better test runs than that.

When in the world did MotorTrend get a 4.3 for the 35i? I have been looking online and i can't find it anywhere. Are you sure about this?
