First of all you do have to be a bit crazy to visit that shit show. So here we go again another Western dumbass gets himself arrested for reasons that make no sense in the real world. This kid supposedly left his room to steal a propaganda banner and got caught..

The official says Warmbier put on "quiet shoes" he brought from the United States and just before 2 a.m. on January 1, 2016, entered the staff-only second floor of the hotel intending to steal a sign or banner with a political slogan.

LMAO.. NK officials found his "quiet shoes", apparently they take sneakers quite literally in North Korea...

I know Americans who've visited NK. They come back with a bunch of amusing stories but many of them are, as expected, very depressing.

During their visit, they visited a museum which was about how terrible America is and how NK defeated America at war. Not that hard to go there as an American, just need to be very careful.

Interesting story. Please do tell. I was there right after the wall came down - visited Berlin, Potsdam, all that good stuff. Saw the Trabants on the side of the road. Lived in Germany for about a year, but spent most of my time while in Germany in Nordrhein Westfalen or Hanover (for a chick, of course). Then traveled all of over Europe. Your story sounds way cooler.

I lived in Poland. My aunt lived in a town on the NW border called Swino Uiscie. It was right on the sea. She worked in a hotel and East Germans would sometimes stay there. She was close with this one lady that used to come in the summer. Eventually my mom became friends with her because we use to go to the sea every summer. And then one May we went to visit her. She lived outside of Berlin but we went into the city. I was like 7 at the time but I do remember seeing the wall and the huge fence in front of it.

Very cool... thanks for sharing. That must have been a very interesting transition to make - from Poland, behind the iron curtain, to where you are now.

Edit: To be fair, I have been to NJ and some parts look like Communist Poland ca. 1980.
