Found DVD changer
Purchased my wife's 2009 30i February of this year. Used with only 600 miles on the odometer.
Tonight I was installing a portable Garmin GPS. I opened the glove box and was feeling around for wiring slot possiblities. Hit a switch and to my surprise down came a DVD changer. We didn't even know this existed. So now my question. Why would there be a DVD changer with no screen? We don't have I drive. Is there an option for dealer installed screen or NAV without I drive? Very puzzling to us. Thanks for your help. LRC |

i don't think there's a CD changer option.
anything that plays the latest and greatest usually plays everything below it, so a DVD player will play DVD's and CD's and MP3 CD's

Isn't the changer in the glove box part of the premiujm sopund option ?:? You do not need NAV for that...so it must play CD's...

O.K. found this option for the 2011 Z4, description follows:
6-Disc DVD Changer - $600 Disc autochanger dashboard, 6 and DVD; Audio system with Disc Autochanger and six-disc remote changer CD player reads MP3 Now we use the IPOD so we haven't even used the cd player in the radio. I don't even know if more than one CD can be put in like my Ford Sport Trac has. So maybe it's single CD, then the changer is there for multiple CD's and who listens to DVD audio? Didn't that kind of die out? The DVD changer doesn't appear to be part of the premium sound package. |

Over here you can option in either a 6 disc CD or a 6 disc DVD changer...
should not need the iDrive with it as you can otion it on the 23i which doesn't get i/Drive here (unless you option it as well)

In 2009, the CD changer was part of Premium Sound. I assume it still is. I have never used mine, I just listen to the IPod any more.

The 2009 and 2010 model years had the 6 disc changer in the glove box as part of the premium sound package. The 2011's have the 6 disc changer as a stand alone option and they added satelite radio as part of the premium sound package.
