To mud flap or not mud flap?

Not too concerned about mud here in Florida. I do have concerns about my new 35is getting a case if road rash behind the body extended tires. Has anyone experienced damage from stone or other debris on your car's lower body behind the front or rear wheels? This was the case on my 2012 Roush s3 that I traded
in for the Z (which I like better). Thanks

No prob behind the rear wheel. Where you get "sand blasting" is on the rear end of the side skirt, right in front of the rear wheel.
Please don't put mud guards on this car. If you're worried, get some 3M protective film.

I had the BMW flaps fitted to mine from new and haven't suffered any chipping at all. I guess it depends on the roads you normally drive on and how bad they are. They will definitely help stop unsightly road rash from the front wheels etc so worth it IMHO.

I have also fitted the 6 Series 3M skirt film thats fitted as standard on the area in front of the rear wheels.

Had it on the car when I first got it. Hated it and took it off, mud flaps should never go on a roadster.

Yes, I can understand that.

For me, there are things that are just going to happen to your car, depending which type of car you drive. It's a bit like not driving it when it rains because of water spots. It's going to happen. Or actually using your off road vehicle, well, off road. Don't be surprised if it suffers from small scratches etc. There are just things certain cars are not meant to be protected from ... just my opinion of course.

Agree, I can't stop someone damaging the car etc, but usually after 3 years when I change the car still looks brand new, fitting the mudflaps for me is an easy and effective way of preventing damage. These threads always make me smile as theyre just mudflaps, hardly noticeable but effective.

I personally never had any sort of damage that the mudflaps are supposed to guard against, so I never considered them as an option.

IMHO, don't get it, doesn't match the car.

We can see that you're very proud of your mud flaps but we're trying to also tell you that it looks better without it, and no color combo makes it any better. I can respect your love for the mud flaps on your car but we don't need 4 replies justifying it while its quite clear that no one else enjoys it as much.

I didn't get this area done when I had the rest of the car "wrapped", but, 3300 km later, I'm already regretting it. I may yet remedy this oversight. In my case, it doesn't help a whole lot that I have to drive through an unpaved (gravel) back lane to get to my garage.
