DRL angel eyes different when headlights on..

I have an '11 Z4is with nav and IDrive. When I have the DRL turned off through the IDrive the angel eyes are less bright and the same with headlights off or on. When I turn on the DRL they are much brighter during the day and go back to dimmer when turn on the headlights. I just installed the MTEC super bright and look much whiter and about as bright as the OEM during the day but when I turn the headlights on the angel eyes go dim and yellowish again just like before I installed the MTEC's. So there must be a dimmer yellowish bulb in there somewhere that comes on with the headlights as the main angel eye bulb(MTEC) goes out. Is there any way to keep the MTEC on when the headlights are on, or if not can I change out the dimmer bulb that is somewhere else in the fixture? Thanks.

I'm running MTEC in my 2010 35i. They do dim when the headlights come on, but they don't change color. They are a nice white. Just a little dim with the headlights on.

I don't believe there are more bulbs. I think what you are seeing ( and I see the same in mine ) is that the lower the power going to the bulb, the yellower the light. In essence as the light is more red/yellow, the blue coating on these bulbs cannot fully filter the colour out, result = yellow output rather than the bluer output when on full power.

Your only option really is to invest in LED/HID lighting, which I may do also at some point, as these variants never dim.

they all dim, in all bmw angel eyes. aftermarket LED works well but i saw some solutions where it seems like too much when the headlight is on

HID's don't dim. My HID's have their own wired power connection to to the battery, and use the original power wires to control the on/off relay.

So do the LED aftermarket bulbs dim when the headlights are turned on like the OEM and MTEC bulbs do?
