who is responsible for this mistake ? at least upgrade the engine, the sound , something.

They expect to sell this to people who are not just collecting porsches vehicles ?
Porsche rarely get it wrong and I'd be surprised if it didn't sell. I believe it's a car for a niche market but I genuinely think it will sell in enough numbers for Porsche to consider it a success. Don't forget that Porsche are the most profitable car maker in the world. Or at least they were up until not too long ago (think that the VW / Porsche share thing took it's toll on Porsche).

Porsche build for different clients; those that want a Grand Tourer like the Panamera and those that want a purer 2 seater sports car like the Boxster Spyder or Porsche GT.

Watching the roof being put up / on in that video brought back memories of my 1959 Triumph TR3. The roof frame would fold behind the tiny little jump seat, but it was just a frame - no material. That was separate and kept in the boot. Once the frame was up, you had to fish the vinyl top out of the boot, throw it over the frame, and then walk around snapping the edges into place. (BTW: the snaps were notorious for (a) not lining-up and (b) breaking).

It seemed like an archaic design when I owned that car in the early 1980's. I am surprised that Porsche has kept up this odd arrangement.

I did think of voting for the Porsche (just to try and balance things out a little) but mouse wouldn't let me. No idea why.

I think Porsche should really revamp their line. All the major exotic car companies have. And with all the technological advancements, all roasters should have a hardtop. We're in 2010!

And why do feel that you have to rely on the opinion of others if you intend to purchase a car YOU have to drive the next years? Sorry, but it seems that you are buying things you don't need with money you don't have in order to impress people you don't like...

Best regards

Mick
Woah dude relax. Where did you find information to suggest he doesn't have the money, and he doesn't need the car, and he wants to impress people he doesn't like?

He asked a simple question, and you could simply ignore it if you don't want to help out. I do agree that there are TONS of threads on this, so the OP should have searched to find them and read the opinions there, but you don't have to be so rude about it.

To the OP: I'd pick the Z4, but simply because I like the looks more, and I'm more of a BMW guy... I haven't driven either car, but from what I've read/seen/heard, the Z4's drive is good enough that the marginal improvement for DD use of the Porsche is not going to win me over given the not-as-good design.

Hope that helps, and please search.

That roof really is crap....however i do like the styling compared to the tired old Boxster.

Z4 is the better looking car!
Boxter Spyder is in another class, porsche wanted to make something different from the current boxter s, a pure roadster so I think it s more track oriented..
Make a drive test with both cars and u can decide what s the best for u...
I voted the zed, nevertheless
