Wow, that's pretty expensive, assuming 1RMB=0.21 CAD, that's almost CAD3,500, even if it includes new tranny fluid. Me thinks new tranny fluid is something like CAD700? Sucks to be thinking about this stuff.

Anyway, since you got them repaired, any guesses how long they'll last? I assume that you got a dealer to do the replacements?

Thx.

You are right, but please remember taxes in China make a difference.

I assume the new gaskets will last as long as the original ones. Ie 4~5 yrs.

So I finally hoisted the car and saw for myself that the transmission was indeed leaking. Replaced the oil pan/counterscrews/gasket and got a tranny fluid flush for 5 litres. I read somewhere that the capacity was 9.5 litres? However, they figured to be safe they'll just replace what was drained.

Anyway, I hate asking million questions and also forgetting to ask some key questions....they should know what they're doing, right? I assume they know to top up in addition to replacing what was drained since I did have a leak. Went to a BMW dealer so have 2 yrs warr....worst case my tranny blows up and I get a new tranny? LOL.

Anyway, any words of assurance would be appreciated. Of course will ask dealer again but wanted opinions of fellow members here.

5 litter sould be ok. I did mine last week and used 5.2 l. You only use 9.5 l if you rebuilt the trainy. It was a expensive fix. Mine was out of warranty and parts alone were almost $800

Tx man. I'm curious where the other ~4 litres could be hiding esp since they supposedly drained it. Ya, mine was expensive too and out of warr also.

Bumping this as another issue developed, although not as urgent as apparently the leak is not a full-on leak but 'sweating': it involves the tranny side pan seal so the side gasket and a screw needs to be replaced but the killer is 7 hrs' labor for over CAD1,500. Anyone have this done? They didn't seem too urgent about it though and said I should just periodically keep an eye on it, although the fluid has leaked out some to the side of the tranny and a bit on the floor pan.
