Wind Deflector

Who has a wind deflector on here?

How much did you pay?

I'm confused as to which to order... there are different stuff on ebay and Tischer...

Some say I need to drill...That I need new roll bars...etc

I'm very confused

any help would be appreciated

You sure you even need one? The Z4, with top down, has a pretty calm atmosphere as it is

I have one of the clear arclyic one's. Works reasonably well for me and looks good. 1/2 the price of the BMW one. You can even do some slick stuff on it if you like.

Did some research and found these:
http://www.justroadster.com/products...r_z4_2010.html

http://www.roadstersolutions.com/page69.html

http://www.windblox.com/styles/bmw_z4_windblocker.htm

http://ur-windschott.de/pageID_9307028.html

Now I need to figure out WHICH is better and which is worth it

And yes I need it
Just drove her back from the dealer
Love the car, but the wind was crazy
Reminded me of my e93 prior to getting the Wind Deflector
The wind deflector was one of my most useful mods (out of all the engine suspension and cosmetic ones i did)

The ur-windschott (& Hartge) is safety glass, EU approved & certified etc, costs more and will cost you about $50 to ship to US, as I have corresponded with them. You will be in the $500 range when your $ are converted to Euros with either of these Germany options.

The others are acrylic plastic. I am also looking to pick one up. Since I won't be blasting over 100mph with the top down on any regular basis. IMO and for US driving I think the Roadster Solutions is the better looking (mounting system) although it may not perform as well as the Justroadsters or Windblox as it doesn't cover ther roll cages. I am not fond of the looks of the factory BMW screen.

If you do a search there is a older post on this subject with experienced use.

I can't figure out where the big sign in chinese is printed on on your picture.
It says made in China.... Did you add this on purpose?

It's printed on the windscreen. It does say made in China. Yes it was on purpose.

From my research I came to these conclusions:

OEM BMW
Pros:
Seems to be the most secure (as parts are screwed in),
looks very nice (IMO)
Covers everywhere
Cons:
Bit complicated to install
Expensive

Just Roadster
(http://www.justroadster.com/products...r_z4_2010.html)
Pros:
Cheap
Covers everywhere
Easy to install

Cons:
Looks a little 'cheap' with the plastic scrap vs. the BMW one
May not be as secure as the BWM one at high speeds

(I'd love closer pictures, the ones on the site are small resolution)

Roadster Solutions
http://www.roadstersolutions.com/page69.html
Pros:
Cheap (compared to BMW)
Strong material
Easy to install

Cons
Expensive (compared Just Roadster)
Seems unsafe (3M is not very strong after it's been in the sun for an extended period of time)
Doesn't cover everything (I don't feel that the back seats are enough to cover the air)

Windblox
(http://www.windblox.com/styles/bmw_z4_windblocker.htm)
Pros:
Cheapest
Covers everything

Cons:
Ugliest straps
Doesn't seem to flow well compared to the others

FWIW, it seems that the Just Roadster and the OEM BMW are the best ones

Thoughts?

And yes I did search, that's how I found those links and information.

Thank you

I found the BMW kit for $435 shipped...

Want to sell it to me?

I can't drive my e93 comfortably without the deflector, and can already tell I want one in this car

I usually have pretty long hair for a guy
though it's short-ish now lol

As I mentioned, I can't.
Wind blows too much behind the hears for my taste. (yeah yeah it's a convertible, but my Boxster and e93 had deflectors and I've gotten used to it)

Also as mentioned, I have.

Which is where I found those links.

However, most of the posts weren't too detailed, but enough where I could grasp those pros and cons that I listed.

I guess zpost is like e90post... people tend to give the over any real answer

I guess I'm either leaning towards the Just Roadster or the OEM one...

Just installed the OEM one. Took less than 30 minutes to install.

Remove the roll bar covers, replace the silver side covers.

For the wifes Z4 and it works.

$435 shipped. Yeah, it's expensive but it was a good mod for the wife and she likes it. You can take it down but she leaves it up with no consequences.

Don't like the other kits, especially anything with 3M adhesive. Hot car will eventually affect the adhesion and I could see the windscreen flying off at 60 mph.

Thanks for your input.
Would you be kind enough (when you get a chance) to post up some close up pictures?
All the OEM picture I've seen have been BMW photoshop-like ones..

And +1 on the 3M ones...
I (though very rarely) do drive pretty fast... and would hate for it to fly off

Just Roadster is about $200 shipped, and the OEM is 435 shipped.

TBH, the price isn't the main issue..but rather which is [i[better[/i]

I have the BMW OEM Wind Deflector and it was very easy to install. I used a small piece of wood, the ones you can get in a paint store to mix the paint. I looked at the new plastic cover and pushed on the old one where the tabs are located. The old one came off easily. You only have to remove the back (silver) one.
I then installed the new pieces and was done in 45 min. It does help.
