2010 z4

I just purchased a 2010 z4 30i but received no user manual and am trying to learn the car without it.
My main issue is I can't connect to the radio by bluetooth. I've read several posts that tell you how, but i don't have the phone icon on my radio as an option. I only have "comp" and "config"
I do have the steering buttons for the phone.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can download the correct manual from bmw in their owners manual app..if you put the vin number in…

If it doesn't come up as an option on the headunit then you don't have Bluetooth.
All radio front panels are the same (standard radio, not iDrive) and all multifunction steering wheels have the same buttons no matter what is spec'd from the factory.

I had to update the software in my 2011 Z4 to do this.

Earlier e89 z4-s did not come with bluetooth audio, and only had bluetooth for phone functionality...

If i remember correctly at some point in 2010 bluetooth got a module update that gave bluetooth audio functionality. Something about combox module i think...

So there is a chance that your car is early 2010 build or even 2009 build but registered in 2010 and doesnt have that update.

I have a 09 35i and realization that it doesnt have bluetooth audio was the biggest dissappointment i had after buying mine. Did not know about that before buying it. So i still use aux in cable with lightning adaptor to hook up my iphone.

My 2009 35i has Bluetooth for phone which works, but as KennyP says no Bluetooth audio. I use a Bluetooth adapter which plugs into the line in jack in the center console if I want to stream audio from my cell.

For the Bluetooth hitch, even without the phone icon, try diving into the “config” menu on your Z4’s radio. Look for something like “Bluetooth settings” or “Device connections.” If you still hit a wall, sometimes a Bluetooth reset in the car’s settings can do the trick. If all else fails, you might have to do a quick check at the dealership
