launch control issues if any

Hello,
i did only try the launch control once since i got my car. gotta say i love it

is there any issues on using it more often? gear issue? clutch issues if any?

i know the car doesnt allow you to do it all the time but i wanted to know if it can damage the car. or does bmw take the warranty away if you use it alot.

I have used it twice in 4,000 miles - super awesome. I will rarely use it if ever again because I just do not want to tear up the expensive DCT. It is amazingly quick with launch control - CRAZY fast.

Launch control is very violent for all DCTs. I wouldn't do it a lot, but maybe a handful of times would be ok.

I heard once that the ECU records the number of times it's used and excessive use may void the warranty. Assuming this is an unfounded rumor, but am curious about others thoughts on the subject.

yeah, i would think bmw will void your warranty after 'excessive' LCs. if i'm not mistaken M3s have had LC 'turned off' because of excessive use.

Didn't want to start a new thread.

Wondering also if any issues if ppl use it on a regular basis?

Just wondering how easy is it for the dealer to check # times launch has been used? Is it recorded in the key fob? Was there something in the manual that stated launch control can't be done before X kms/miles? Thx.

The Z4 Will not allow multiple consecutive LCs
It will allow usually 2, but then you will need to drive around/let the transmission cool down.

This safety was created to prevent damage to the transmission.
I do not remember reading in the manual that excessive LCs would void warranty.

I have had the Z4 for about 5500 Miles, out of those 5500, 3k of them were tuned with the Jb4 running 14 psi (8.8 is stock if i remember right)

I did about 20 LCs in a 2 month span.

My car is a lease though... if I had purchased it/planned on keeping it, I would not have done so many LCs.

The transmissions has kept up well and has had no lags/etcs, car is running strong
