Window Reset Procedure on an E89?

So my passenger window goes down and stops about 1/4" up. I push the switch (driver and passenger side) down again, and hold it, it does down all the way, but in 2 seconds will pop back up. Tried the Re-initialization procedures I could find on line, but I think BMW changed the switches as I don't see to have a two position switch. Got to be something when the battery went dead and needs to be reset. Figure it would save me a 1/2 a day at the dealership at least if I could find how to make the adjustment.

On a side note, is it normal when you use the top up button inside for all 4 windows not to go up? It seems once the top is in place and trunk closed, everything stops. When I use my Key Fob, it will go through the entire cycle, including rolling all the windows up, but from inside I then have to pull the 4 window switch up.

In regards to your 2d question, yes, the windows don't go up after raising the top.

Windows close after top up

Must be programmable, because all my windows close automatically after shutting the top from the inside switch or from fob.

From what I understand, that is for comfort access equipped cars only.

I should clarify. If I close the top from the inside, I have to close the windows manually. If I use the key fob (I have comfort access), the windows will close after the top is up.

Thanks, exactly what mine does. You think they would have programmed it to continue with the windows from the inside switch.

Comfort access

I can confirm again that my 35i (which comes standard with comfort access in Australia) operates as follows: when you put the top up using the switch on the console, the 4 windows then close automatically provided you hold the switch down for long enough, exactly the same as with the key fob.

That's how my 35is operated prior to me installing the smart top.

Hmmm...sounds like a programming issue. Knowing my stealership, they'll probably charge me for such service...

my 2011 z4 3.0i windows don't lower 1/4 inch when I first get into car and keep going up and down 1/4 inch until I put my key in. Don't know what's going on.

So when you open the door, they do not drop down?

If not, this is bad and the glass could break, more so if you close the door without lowering the window so it can move into the glass channel, otherwise you will be pinning the glass outside of the channel.

Have you tried the passenger side to see if you are getting the same result?

I have/had same issue. BMW did what they do 2x times. Easiest solution I've found is put top back down, then up. Resolves the issue. Likely some switch not getting activated enough
